I just realized that we requested TWO copies from the FBI when we mailed it in (we paid extra for it). We still have that other original copy! But it is from December 19, 2012 (as the one we sent in). Any chance CPP-O will accept this other ORIGINAL copy from back in December or will they want a brand new letter?

I also sent an e-mail to CPP-O but wanted to pick the brains of the knowledgable folks here

Thanks!

I'd definitely contact them to see.

It's not valid if its over 3 months old.

You do not need a RCMP check either. CIC does that on their own.

But wouldn't that be the case if they didn't lose the original letter or anyone who had the FBI letter when they first mailed it in with the rest of the application?

Soooo disappointed... :( :(

The FBI letter was dated 12/21/2012. I thought I had 3 months to mail in my application and it was received 1/16/2013.

I do have a scanned copy but I know they want an original. I guess trying to convince them that I did send it in is a no-win situation for me.

I will go ahead as you recommended. Send in PPR and the scanned copy and tell them she will redo fingerprints and get another FBI letter and send that in separately.

Thanks for the congrats... though I am feeling quite down right now... :(

btw - I don't need a separate police clearance in addition to the FBI letter, do I?

Thanks a bunch

Contact them ASAP. Tell them you submitted the FBI letter with the original application. Send them the COPY of it. It's possible they need to look again to find it. Then go get a new one ordered - yes, it's the cost of the fingerprints plus $18 but think of it as insurance. But push them NOW because getting the COPR sooner is still better than waiting.

Someone else reported a similar issue and when they responded to the visa office the officer came back and said "oh, yeah, we have it..." If they have everything else, odds are that at that point the officer will issue the COPR.

Has your spouse every been in Canada for 6 months or more? If yes they need a RCMP check....also any other country your spouse spent more than 6mnth.

CIC does a bio data check first (name and DOB) and only if there is a match in the RCMP database do they require you get a (fingerprint based) RCMP letter. That seems to happen in a small percentage of cases.

But if they don't ask for an RCMP report, you don't need to get one.

We just sent an e-mail but we didn't send the copy via e-mail. We just explained that we indeed sent it in and if we can send it our other original copy. We will send them another e-mail with a scanned copy.

Oh man I will... I don't know what I would do... but it would be nuts if they somehow find it. I would be jumping for joy. PLEEASE

Same thing happened to me. They asked for an FBI clearance and stated that we used a third party when submitting our first one, which we did not. I emailed them back to let them know and they said hold off on ordering another one while they check into it. Said they would get back to us in a couple days. Never heard back. Luckily we ordered one any way. We sent it off along with PPR requested March 22nd. Still have not heard anything on COPR. Hopefully your process will be quick. According to our MP they haven't touched our case yet since then.

Yeah I hear you. I know that you have one clean shot at this and if there are any snags, they put your case aside and god knows when they will get back to it. Hence another reason why I'm so depressed about this. Even if I get that new letter mailed to them in time, who knows when they will pick it up again.

*sigh*

I hope you gets yours through soon.

Yup, hopefully you get a conscientious officer who processes the docs upon receipt rather than shunting your file to the end of the queue. It's my view (and I'll censor myself a bit less than usually do) that there a few vindictive officers who take a punitive approach to files that arrive on their desks incomplete. "So, Mississauga lost your photos? Send some more, and as a bonus for not sending a complete file (never mind that it was Mississauga that lost them), I'll shove your file to the bottom of the pile to teach you to send incomplete applications."

I know from our GCMS notes that on March 21 our visa officer received and logged the documents we sent, but couldn't be bothered to initiate the one remaining step - the security check - and set our file aside, and here we sit, waiting. Maybe you can put that down to profound incompetence, or perhaps it's craven indifference to the effect one's actions and omissions have on people's lives, or perhaps it's intentional, deliberate action animated by contempt for immigrants. None of those reasons are acceptable, but I suspect there's a toxic mix of all three at work.

Wow, I managed to say that without calling them a bunch of halfwitted fucktards.

Hi all .. Do we get aor before passport request? I got aor only once before sponsorship approval..

Also when or in what situations do they request medicals again or FBI clearance again?

Thanks to all for your help

Congrats to everyone who got PPR today:)

Does anyone know if it is possible to talk to someone in CPP-O over the phone regarding my case? Is it only e-mail? All I see regarding contact information for CPP-O is an e-mail address, fax number and snail mail address.

There are 2 opportunities to get AOR, although not everyone gets AOR.

There is Stage 1 AOR from Mississauga and Stage 2 AOR from Ottawa. Ottawa doesn't normally send out AOR. I only got confirmation they had my file because I sent additional forms and they confirmed receipt of those forms via email.

It's very likely you'll hear nothing from Sponsor Approval until PPR unless you didn't send in medicals/police clearance OR they lose something :(
