Yes, you'll need the landing documents. Temporary SIN will make no difference.

I think Toronto is around 2-3 months wait, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully someone else can comment.

You can also go to the USA border to "Flagpole" for your landing. You don't have to enter the USA. Is this why you're asking about the US visa? You don't need one - just tell border patrol you want to land as a Canadian PR and they will give you an administrative refusal and walk you through back "into" Canada.

That administrative refusal is key here. In order to land at the border you have to prove to CBSA that you LEFT Canada.

I had to get my (US) passport stamped because CBP cannot refuse a US Citizen or Permanent Resident entry into the US - so no administrative refusals. But anyone else can get an administrative refusal. It DOES count as a refusal, but it is one refusal that has no impact in the future.

The administrative refusal has a date stamp on it - and that date stamp is how CBSA knows you left the country.

Got the COPR today.

Called CIC .Waiting time for "landing" in Etobicoke is 2-4 weeks
And for Scarborough it is 2-3 months.

The agent instead suggested me to do the "flagpole".
He told me:
1) Just get passed Canada and come back. No need to go to the US border patrol.
2) All documents like COPR, Passport, ID's Proof of Residence and most importantly ALL ORIGINALS of the DOCUMENTS submitted with the application.
3) No proof of Funds either as I am being sponsored.

Planning to do this on this Sunday i.e 7th July, 2013.

Hi Everyone!

Can anyone elaborate or break down the timeline for me once COPR is received? I wasn't aware that I had to apply for a SIN # and there is another wait time on this? I am (as I am sure all of you) want to be able to have an idea when I will be able to (FINALLY) start work in Canada so I have a time frame to tell potential employers, as even the job hunt itself is a full time job!

I am currently in Vancouver, but headed back to the states for a little while (maybe a month or so). When I receive my COPR (I assume it is mailed to my permanent address in the states? Or will it be sent to my hubby/sponsors in Canada?) I will come back into Canada to land. Is it in my best interest to enter Canada first, then flagpole? I understand i will need all documents: Passport, IDs, marriage certificate...

Will I then apply for a SIN after this is done?

App received Dec 31st. U.S to Canada and I got passport request June 28, so I hope the decision made is good news.
