When they send COPR, is it just sent regular mail?

Yes it's by regular Mail ( Brown Cover )..

Somewhere, I read that the COPR came by courier, but it came via snail mail in an envelope made with recycled paper... I shrieked when I saw it in my mailbox in the kiosk!

We're celebrating our last 4th of July here in the States today at ex's with the extended family, step-families, the whole gang. Should be wonderful but bittersweet. My oldest is moving elsewhere in the state at the same time that the youngest and I are moving to Canada, so it's pretty rough on me, leaving her, and especially on my ex, seeing both of the girls move. Life moves on, though, and I'm ready for the new chapter with my new hubby, in less than 30 days now!

Here's hoping that all of us here will be celebrating Canada Day next year in our new home!

Think of all that moving apart as the exploding fireworks. You're all going to sparkle.

I was under the impression that my file goes from Mississauga for Sponsor Approval to Ottawa for the Permanent Resident approval. I was referring to receipt of the file in Ottawa. Which also made me ask; Will I always check my ECAS status as Sponsorship with my sponsor's info, or do I change to checking status of Permanent Resident with my information?

You won't hear from Ottawa until you get PPR.

Need some help:

Seems OTTAWA has mailed my passport and COPR today.(According to the tracking number of the Canadapost Envelope)

1) Can I apply for a SIN number with a COPR?

2) I know i can land in Canada instead of going outside at CPP-O or CPP-M, but any idea how long it takes to get an appointment? Or the process in general?

Thanks

1) No, someone tested that last month and it didn't work

2) It depends on your city. Some take a few weeks, some take a few months - but always give it a try. Shylox (another user) was told a few months wait for her landing, but then got an appointment the next week. So worth investigating at the least. If you tell us your city, someone might give you a better idea on waiting times.

Thanks for the reply . Appreciate it. I am in Toronto. So do you need the landing document to get a SIN number? I already have a temporary SIN number for the last 5 years. Guess that doesn't make a difference , does it ?
Does US has any temporary (short term ) visa for these purposes?

Thanks
Arindam

Yes, you'll need the landing documents. Temporary SIN will make no difference.

I think Toronto is around 2-3 months wait, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully someone else can comment.

You can also go to the USA border to "Flagpole" for your landing. You don't have to enter the USA. Is this why you're asking about the US visa? You don't need one - just tell border patrol you want to land as a Canadian PR and they will give you an administrative refusal and walk you through back "into" Canada.

Thanks. Appreciate it again. For that Landing purpose i was asking about Us Visa. Thanks for letting me know about the "flagpole".

Right now I am so kicking myself for not including an envelope with tracking for our COPR....
I'm crazy impatient now that I know it was sent out on the 28th! I'm wondering how long it will take to get there!

As long as it takes a one legged polar bear to hop to your house? :P

Lol! Nooooooo! Hopefully it will get there much faster than that!
