Ya I don't think the strike is affecting the processing times because I got my permanent resident card in the mail this afternoon. Eight weeks...not too bad. I think the delay on the rest of the applications is just something normal with cic. Sometimes they work like crazy and sometimes they take their time.

And they put some people's applications in a banker's box that they use to prop the door open for the summer.

LMFAO
I think that's what they are doing with MINE!

After numerous hiccups, my lawyer finally filed my spousal sponsorship application on June 6th. How do I get added to the spreadsheet?

I've added you. As a reminder to all, all of the spreadsheets are created and maintained by volunteers who are applicants like you!

Good luck!

Ivan, my computer is still broken. My husband (who can build computers) can't figure out what's wrong with it. I guess I will need to email my brother (a programmer) and hope he checks his messages sometime this century. If you want to recruit someone else to help with the SS - please go for it. I know it's not fun alone.

Ottawa would have to work a lot faster for it to be a burden.

So nice to see that you are maintaining your sense of humour in what must be a very frustrating time for you :'(

I keep checking every day in the hopes that you get good news.

Dear Xxxxxxxxxxx:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE FINALIZED BY THE CASE PROCESSING PILOT – OTTAWA (“CPP-O”).

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø COPY OR SCANNED IMAGE of your passport and passports of your accompanying family members, as noted below.

Please note:
All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarised documents are not acceptable.

Passport Copies:
You are a citizen of a country that is exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. You are therefore required to send only a copy or scanned image of the photo page of your passport and of any pages indicating a validity extension or change to your personal information. You must submit these copies/scans for yourself and for all your accompanying family member(s).
DO NOT SEND YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT(S). We require copies of a VALID passport for yourself and every accompanying family member. Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be issued on Diplomatic, Official or Military passports.

Changes to your Family Composition:
· Have you married or divorced?
· Have you given birth or adopted a child?
· Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Has your sponsor withdrawn his or her sponsorship of your application?

My question is, why would they be asking the last part when he IS married? And we submitted all of those things?

Congratulations....whoooohooooo ;D

So they don't want a copy of our marriage certificate again and all of that?

Thank you Ivan, I'm waiting for your turn to pop up!

Congrats to everyone! I have to say I have been feeling a little down this week about finding work and the strike but your good news really made my day ;D Lets hope we continue to see movement into the January apps soon!

Thanks Canuck!
Here's hoping that Ottawa keeps going!

Hey guys! So I'm probably jumping ahead of myself, as I haven't received COPR in the mail quite yet, and it may come with instructions on what I should do. But I figured I'd ask, so maybe I can plan a bit ahead.

I've been in Canada for three years - First a student visa, then visitors (renewed several times), and finally got the call that I my application for spousal sponsorship was approved and I should receive COPR in the mail.

I guess what I'm looking for reaffirmation that I will have to: Re "land" - Basically flagpole down to the closest border, bring "what goods will follow" forms (even though everything has been here already), and so on? Since I'll be working as soon as possible, I thought it might be a good idea to go down to Ohio to visit family for a few days first, and then come back through and land? Am I able to do that? Do I have to bring my spouse with me when I land?

I hope everyone's applications have a speedy turn around time and you all hear about your applications soon!

I was wondering the same thing...

Once he gets his COPR, how long does he have from that date to land?
Am I able to cross with him? We were talking about me flying down there and doing the drive together.
What are some helpful hints?
