Well, some must be working because my daughter and I received our PPR today! Woot! Here's hoping I broke the Ottawa silence for others....

My MP's office finally woke up and responded that they have made an inquiry about my case, and said I should hear back from them Monday or Tuesday.

I can't help but note that having our MP respond feels like progress, even if it doesn't bring us any closer to my family obtaining their COPRs.

Meanwhile, hopefully Ottawa can keep plugging away at our applications during the strike...

Would it be a bad idea to get you last name changed while the sponsorship papers are being processed??? I was just thinking of changing my last name to my married name but maybe I'll wait since my application and everything was done without my married name.
ANy thoughts? (I am the sponsor)

If you're the sponsor, it doesn't really matter to them. Especially if you're a woman(obviously). They kind of expect name changes. I was Mrs. Parker, but now I'm Mrs. Maiden Name-Parker. Mostly for ODSP reasons.. AKA I got a caseworker with a stick up her ass So I went back to have my maiden name as the first part so I could go back to my NICE and WONDERFUL caseworker haha.

Did you have to change your name legally? Im in BC and I am looking into how I go about changing my last name.. I don't really understand... I have read that if I am only changing my maiden name to my married name then I don't need to change it legally just basically call each ID place and change it .. but I also read that if I want to keep both my maiden and married name I do need to change it legally.. I don't know lol im a little confused.. how was your experience?

I think Parker24 is in Ontario .. the rules in BC are different, from what I understand. I am also in BC, so I looked into this when I got married. I wanted to change my name to Maiden-Married but hyphenating your last name in BC requires a legal name change. If you want to continue using your maiden name or if you want to assume your husband's name, neither of these options require a legal name change. But if you want a hyphenated last name, you do have to have a legal name change.
