Oh I really hope that's not the case! :(

Isn't that grand? It explains why Ottawa updates in this thread have been so sparse since mid-December.

I contacted my local MP requesting confirmation on this.

Yes, mine showed a second address several months ago around when I got the generic email info request.

Huh, okay. Well maybe they'll send more communication my way with the address update. At least they did something new, lol. I'm not sure about the refugee thing. Honestly this, at the moment, sounds to me like an MP who guessed at an answer because he/she didn't have the real answer. It could be, but it could have also been their best guess. But we've been told that there are specific NEW workers assigned to refugee cases. I still don't really see why Family Class is being affected. If anyone is affected it would be other refugees from other countries. To me, my best educated guess is we're still feeling the effect of them recovering from Christmas break. We'll have updates and news soon. But like I said, this is my guess, I am not in the know.

The person I spoke with seemed knowledgeable enough on checking into Immigration applications. I have an appointment with their office tomorrow to give them my app # and UCI and a timeline of my communication with CIC so far. I doubt they'll be able to actually do anything for me, but at this point I really just want answers.

Having CIC demand papers from us within 7 days ("or else we'll make a decision which may result in rejection") then sitting and doing nothing for a month and a half is ridiculous. If they're going to demand documents be sent express with minimal notice, the least they can do is actually continue processing the application when we follow their demands. Especially seeing applicants from June/July/Aug get processed and DMs through Ottawa when people from May and before do not. It's inane the way they process these apps.

It seems like a lot of us who were requested additional docs got put at the back of the pile / line / whatever. I think anyone who was asked for more is still waiting, like you and I. Most people with everything they needed have been approved from May US outland. Hopefully you and I will be next and it'll be soon. We both probably got delayed further with our requests coming so close to holiday break.

The problem being, I did supply everything they needed. I thought our initial application was brimming with info yet they still wanted "more proof of relationship". Great. We rushed to get it to them (as they requested) early December and we're sitting in a pile that probably won't get looked at in months.

I agree it's a problem, and I agree it sucks. I have no idea why they would only give you seven days. Another poster on this forum was requested a document they didn't even have (a police record from a country the applicant never even went to!) and then after they sat there kind of confused over this, a week or two later they got a DM and their COPR. So I'm guessing they must make these weird mistakes a lot. If I had to guess, your request for more info with only seven days (usually the deadline, final warning amount) was actually a clerical error.

It's too bad you didn't get the same outcome with a DM in a week. I wonder if you got moved to the waiting pile even though it was a mistake. I really want to live in Canada as a PR, but this process is making me doubt the government a bit! As someone from America though I can't say the US government is any more effective or efficient. Probably it's worse.

Either way, I do notice weird things happen to people who are requested additional documents beyond the bulk-EMail request. It sucks to be in that group. I sent in my document with the bulk EMail but they sent out a second additional document request after I had already sent it in. So I had to wait much longer than I would have (I think) than if they had received my document before their request.

On the plus side, reading other messages on this board, I have seen some movement in Ottawa! Right now it appears to be from non-US countries, but I do see them doing things like PPR's and this and that.

Hubby got COPR today! WOOOO! Here is my complete timeline...Hope it can help others.

Application filed: June 1st 2015

Sponsor File In Process: July 8th 2015
Sponsor File Decision Made: July 28th 2015

Primary Applicant File In Process: August 4th 2015
Primary Applicant File Decision Made: January 10th 2016
CORP Received: January 19th 2016

So nervous & excited! My husband's PR application now states "Decision Made" online. He did have a criminal rehabilitation application and it was approved on Nov 8, 2015. Our application was sent to The LA Visa office on Dec 8, 2015 and they stated they would get back to us within the next 2 months. Our lawyers stated that this was normal for CR applications in order to do a background check and they did not anticipate an interview as know document requests were made. Is this good news?

Will we receive a decision made letter via email soon (as we requested for communication) or do we just wait to get COPR in mail? Hubby is a US citizen...

Congratulations! You won't get an email or an additional line about correspondence in ECAS - just a matter of waiting on the COPR in the mail. Should take about 10 days or so...

Hey guys,

I am in need of help on how to proceed with my husband’s application. I submitted a case specific enquiry last December 22, 2015, they gave me an answer that is so generic. Still in process. They have sent my husband’s application to a queue for “review required”. Now I need my next steps to be guided please. I don’t know what to do. My health is in bad shape, my bills are piling up...my mom is injured too. I am in so much pain and anxiety again I really cannot sleep at night... I think I am going to really lose my mind and die with this whole process.:(

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Have you contacted your MP yet? That would be my next step.

Hello Rugrat...I am very much depressed as of the moment. Yes, I will contact my MP because this is not right anymore. I am trying to formulate the best way to say it so I get my husband’s case looked after!:( Any news for you my friend?
