Hello!

I was looking on another thread and saw something about being able to apply for OHIP while awaiting PR. I looked into this online and is says that all I need is proof of eligibility -or- "Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada".

My question is, what would be considered confirmation of elegibilty? Would it be any of the emails I have recieved in the past? Thanks in advance for any help, experiences or advice. :)

I believe this is only true for inland applicants. I am not sure if that is correct though. I hope someone helps you out

Congrats BeShoo! This is great news!

But yikes!! It took them a year to actually start looking at your application? :-( Are you applying inland or outland?
They obviously looked at it briefly last June when they asked for extra items. The reason it took us until November to send everything was that we are not in great financial shape living on one income and we had to save up money for another medical check, a CSQ application from Quebec and the RPRF, a total of just over $1000.

Still nothing new since the March 3 "in process" but we are hopeful of hearing something more in the next week or two.

You have to have "Approval In Principle" to qualify for OHIP.

Therefore, it only applies to Inland applicants.

This is not true. Please read the post by Bartjones. He explains how he was able to get OHIP approval for his OUTLAND applicant wife. It takes additional legwork than just going down to the Service Ontario office. It requires writing letters to review boards and such... For outland the review board is actually who confirms the eligibility.

Received an email today from CPP-Ottawa asking for additional documents that we've already sent in? They asked for our marriage cert, which I've sent in with our application and requesting documents that my husband will reside in Canada. He does, always has and always will.... So I guess I'm confused.. But does this mean we are one step closer to being done??? :) ??

I also got an email today from Ottawa today asking for additional documents.

They also said they had sent a Medical Certificate form in October 2014 - which we never received. I had supplied an electronic file of Medical Report from when I had thought I had needed it for a multiple entry visa. That was done Nov 2013 before my PR application in August 2014. Should I get a new medical done because the other one was out of 6 months range before my application?

I think it's good news that I finally hear something. :)

Medical exams are only good for one year. Sometimes they extend that time, but it looks like they didn't in your case, unfortunately. You'll have to get a new one.

Nope.got my notes the other week and they are pretty much identical to my notes from November.
My partner called the call centre to see if the could give us any type of update and the guy told her he "estimates my application will be completed in November of this year".i am a June applicant.i have since stopped checking ECAS because I get too frustrated.

Hello everybody!

Is this forum for outland or inland?

I am december applicant. I had my SA on March the 10th. I thought my application will be send to Paris, but they sent it to Ottawa. I don't know if that is good or bad. I was checking the processing time of Ottawa VO but it seems long comparing to Paris. Or maybe people don't update the spreadsheet...

Well I just got an email from Ottawa explaining that they received my email back in February but they can't receive any attachments larger than 5MB so I need to 're-size' my attachment - not that it says that anywhere on the email they sent me originally. I still don't know if they received it by mail as Canada Post didnt get it signed for so we have had to resort to my in-laws MP to make enquiries as to whether CIC have received the info by mail.

Slowly losing the will!

Good god. I hope not. We are roughly on the same timeline. I am hoping he was just using the quoted estimate time published on the website for the Ottawa office. I am hoping Ottawa took 3 months off to work on another stream of apps and will return to ours April 1st. Wishful thinking. I just can't believe they can't be at a standstill any longer.

Yeah I agree I think thats just the call centre agents looking at the published timelines, I don't believe they can tell you much once its with the visa office.
