we were talking about that today (my wife & I) and wondering the same thing. It doesn't make the wait any easier though. We were hoping to land before Christmas.

The posted processing time for Ottawa VO has been moved up to 15 months. Their news release indicates that they are prioritizing Manila applicants and using resources there. Rumor has it that they have temporarily stopped processing other PR applicants for an indefinite period. I wonder is there any way to confirm this.

I will update the spreadsheet for those of you who asked later today. :)

I'm sorry to hear so many of you are waiting now for news, it's unfortunate if they have stopped processing other applicationsdue to the typhoon but I can understand their reasoning. So many people displaced, what a tragedy. I will all of you speedy PR's.

It is public knowledge that they are fast tracking applications for those impacted by the typhoon:

Globe and Mail article: "Canada announces which typhoon-hit Philippine city will be focus of aid" Nov. 14 said:
Canada has also said it will consider fast-tracking immigration applications for those directly affected by the typhoon – including tourist visas, student visas, Temporary Foreign Worker cases and residency applications, Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander said Thursday. Departmental officials will consider fast-tracking both new and existing applications, he added.

“We are going to process those applications on a priority basis, so that those applicants who in many cases have lost family members, loved ones, property, livelihood – so that they can come to Canada and benefit from everything this country has,” he said.'

But they are also saying that they don't anticipate it will impact other applications:

Globe and Mail article: "Canada announces which typhoon-hit Philippine city will be focus of aid" Nov. 14 said:
Mr. Alexander said he did not expect fast-tracking cases in the Philippines to slow the processing of applications from other countries.

I had noticed the increased processing time for Ottawa a few days ago as well. That makes sense about Manila being prioritized. It doesn't make the waiting easier though. :(

All - I had applied for my son to the mississauga office during the first week of may 2013 and the case got transferred to CPP-ottawa during the second week of june 2013.

NO NEWS/ COMMUNICATION FROM THEM AT ALL YET...

fed up totally.

any clues of, when i can get a communication from them ? only after new year ???? my son's case is very very straight forward. It should not take more than 1 hour to process his application. But, it has been 7 months since i applied. it is painful waiting.

bye, Geo

I'm a mathematician by training and a computer geek by vocation. This is a problem known as "queueing theory" - an entire branch of mathematics studying about queue behaviour. In your case, the issue is not the service time (an hour) but rather the wait time - the time before you receive service.

It IS painful waiting - for you. For CIC, there is no pain in making you wait, so that is what they do. They have a finite pool of resources and more demand on those resources than they can service. There are political issues that arise - such as pulling officers off PR applications to process temporary applications when there is a labour action, or a decision to expedite applications for people impacted by a natural disaster. That just makes YOUR wait time go up.

It is a difficult process, sadly, but there's nothing else you can do BUT wait. At some point, you will have other options, but at only 6 months there is no other option yet.

Sorry - I spent 39 months, 17 days in the immigration process. I do understand how frustrating it is.

Oh here's something a little encouraging -someone on another thread(washingtongirl) is reporting they got PPR on November 26, so there seems to be a little bit of movement from Ottawa VO again. I hope someone gets to land before Christmas break because there will be about 1 week to 10 days of VO inactivity during that time.

Hooray! My ECAS status changed from "Application Received" to "In Process"!

The details state they started processing it on December 6th. Not sure what this means in terms of waiting time from here on in, but I'm THRILLED to see some movement!

Could someone please update the spreadsheet to reflect the change in my ECAS status? Thanks!

Hoooray! We got our COPR in mail today and plan to flagpole on Saturday. Buffy can you update the spreadsheet. Thank you! We are so excited!!
