So... just checked eCAS... so... we have two decision mades... does that mean our CoPR is in the mail?! I am so happy. I am going to California to visit my husband for Christmas; if I can pack him up and take him home and ring in the new year with him, in Canada, we will be ecstatic. Our 5.5 year long distance relationship is finally coming to and end!

No matter how long it takes, eventually, it breaks and all comes to fruition. Time's a vertical drop in the bucket.

I've appreciated this community and am so glad we have had such excellent experts--especially you, ComputerGeek!

Feb 27th: application rec'd by CIC
June 7th: Sponsor approval
Dec 3rd: PR (scanned image)
Dec 4th: emailed PR
Dec 7th(ish): decision made

I'm headed down to the US next week to help my wife make the move up here. At the same time, a friend of mine asked a favour of picking up and bringing in a rather expensive watch (around $2500). Does it matter how much the value of the goods we bring in is? Or can I put the watch on our "list of goods accompanying us" and not think twice about it? My only concern is they ask for a receipt or proof that it's ours. Would claiming that it's a wedding gift be sufficient?

Congratulations! Yes, DM means for applicant means they have printed the COPR (and hopefully it's in the mail back to you).

Note that if you dispose of goods in the first 12 months after you bring them to Canada, you are supposed to pay tax on them:

If you sell or give the goods away within the first year of importing them into Canada, duty- and tax-free, you will have to pay any applicable duty and taxes immediately. If you divert the goods for commercial use, the same rule applies.

Interesting. How exactly would they know if you sold or gave them away? Does someone from CIC knock on your door with a checklist at the one year mark? But in all seriousness, how would they account for something like this?

I suspect they would find out through some other means. For example, if it were reported stolen by someone within that 12 month time frame and it turns up as belonging to you on your "B4/B4A" form. Remember, this isn't CIC - this is CBSA and they cooperate with RCMP rather closely, with detailed access to one another's records.

Right, of course. Ok, well the friend would be picking up the tab on the duty, just thought I'd try and save them a few hundred.

So, a mere 50 days after my PPR- my CoPR is at my US address!

I'll put up a full run down of my times later, but just FYI for now for people in Northern states, it took 5 business days.

Hey guys, I just have some questions about the CPP-Ottawa process.

Firstly, it seems that some files were sent from Ottawa to LA - in what situation is a file sent to LA? Is it because the person being sponsored is from the U.S.?

My case is, I am from Bermuda, my husband is Canadian, we are applying outland. Our application was received on March 21, and sponsor approval was granted on June 28. Our file was sent to Ottawa, but since June 28 we have had no updates from Ottawa at all. My meds expire on Dec 12, and I emailed them a week ago asking if I could please have an extension, but no reply yet.

It seems strange to me, because I see that some people from MAY have already had their visas issued. Why is Ottawa overlooking people from March and April? I'm just worried that my file has somehow gone missing in all the mess when files transferred from Buffalo. Can anyone advise?

Not sure who keeps messing up our spreadsheet. IvanP nicely fixed it up yesterday and today it is back all scrambled. My suggestion might be to close it like others so it cannot be continually messed up. It is really difficult to monitor progress when it is all messed up. IMHO :'(

I'm new in this forum. Our application was sent to case processing pilot - ottawa ( cpp-o ) not to US VO, and I'm wondering will the proces be faster then VO procesing time in US? I'm the applicant and I have a child, so that's why probably they sent me to CPP. What do you think?
