Hi, I also received an email today asking if I am able to travel to Canada soon. I haven't contacted them since I sent an email stating 'not ready to ready' back in April 2020.

I am still interested in relocating to Canada but perhaps not ready within 60 days. I live in the UK and the situation is not getting any better. Do you know what is going to happen if I don't respond the email or say still not ready? i don't want to lose my chance but equally would be good if I can be given a bit more time to sort out all my stuff before moving for good.
I think it is already written in the email that if not ready to travel then should not reply.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

The email mentioned: You are ready, willing, and able to travel before the current expiry date of your medical exams, in your case, April 11, 2021. This validity may not be further extended, without you re-doing all immigration medical exam(s) and covering the cost for them

I guess I just want to be assured that if I don't reply but happy to re-do my medical exam and pass it, I will be extended for sure? I think i will be ready by May to deal with my property and belongings etc.

yes, reply email within 10 days only if you are ready, see below. But also said might not be possible to have another extension after that. I don't want to risk it in case not ready in time, although the worst case is to fly there quarantine 14 days then back to sort out my stuff and fly back again i guess.

I think the email I have received might be a scam.

I just replied your post with the email address and it is awaiting for moderator's approval. I then googled the email address and I think it might not be right. I do found it weird since I have never been told that my medical exam got extended. I thought it has expired in early 2020. Plus my online account has zero update.

Is this normal?

You can try sending me a DM.
Do you have 7 questions in it? Few people received the similar kind of email.
In my online account my medical passed date got extended by 1 year and got reflected in 2 days after the email.

Please reply to this email within 10 days if you are able to travel to Canada soon and meet the conditions below.
December 29, 2020

Application number: XXXXXXXXXX ( they got my number right)

Dear client,

Our records at Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) indicate that:

  • Your permanent residence application was approved.
  • The date of issue on the confirmation of permanent residence (CoPR) document that was sent to you and your family members, if applicable is on or before March 18, 2020.
  • You and your family members, if applicable, have not used your CoPR to enter Canada.
  • The validity date on your CoPR (i.e. the date by which you needed to travel to Canada) has passed and your document has therefore expired.
  • Based on your specific case details and as an exceptional response to COVID-19, IRCC was able to extend your medical exam validity; your medicals now expire on April 11, 2021.
IRCC wants to confirm that:
  • You still want to travel to Canada to become a new permanent resident; please note that IRCC is not asking you to purchase a plane ticket.
  • You are ready, willing, and able to travel before the current expiry date of your medical exams, in your case, April 11, 2021. This validity may not be further extended, without you re-doing all immigration medical exam(s) and covering the cost for them.
  • You are ready, willing, and able to travel to Canada on a valid passport by April 11, 2021.
  • There are no COVID-19 restrictions to prevent you from leaving your country.
  • There is a travel route with zero or one transfer that you can use to get to Canada and that is currently operating.
  • Your plan is to stay in Canada permanently.
  • You are able to arrange and cover the costs to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Canada.
If you fulfill all the conditions above, please reply to this email at ircc.in-rroc-corr-ri.ircc@cic.gc.ca within 10 days and answer the questions using the response letter template below to help us better understand your situation.
Please respond to this email ONLY if you are sure that you could travel to Canada soon.
Please note that if new travel documents are issued to you, IRCC will send you a letter that will be valid for up to 60 days (but not exceeding your medical or passport validity), and it may not be possible for IRCC to issue you with another extension.

IRCC will endeavour to respond to you within four weeks.

Sincerely,
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
