hi:

i got my PR in june 2006 and landed in canada in july 2006 and remain in canada till october 2011. i applied for renewed PR in april 2011 and got renewed in Sept 2011 expires in august 2016.

at the end of october 2011, i went to india and came back in 8 february 2012. in april 2012 i applied for citizenship.

i came to india on 15of may and i am not planning to return to canada in near future. and i want to come to canada only in for citizenship exam.

i heard that if your PR card is renewed then you have to remain in canada for required period for more than two years and i also heard that now a days exam date for citizenship receives after two years.

my question is since i have applied for citizenship and if i receive the exam date after two years then i would be failed to remain in canada for required period as above mentioned.

is it really a matter of thinking or i am confused somewhere .

please guide me.

To maintain your PR status, you must live in Canada two out of every five rolling years. This rule applies until you become a citizen. If you have applied for citizenship and are waiting for your file to be processed, you still must continue to meet PR residency obligations. In other words, the fact that you have applied for citizenship does not change the fact that you must live in Canada two out of every five years. This will only change once you actually have citizenship.
