this is husband case.

Hi, I've the same time line, the only difference is 2 weeks ago my husband's application status changed into "In Process". This is whats written there: "We received your application for permanent residence on January 21, 2011.

We started processing your application on August 16, 2012.
Medical results have been received. "

I received email from embassy June of 2012 saying that "background checks are underway" and last week they sent my husband a letter to fill out one more form. Here is the link: www.canadainternational.gc.ca/pakistan/assets/pdfs/PakistaniNationals-Form-en.pdf

Danny, would you please let me know what are they upto? As I've become so hopeless. Mayosi gunnah hai par koi choice nahi hai.....

The application status changes to "In Process" once the immigration officer reviews your file and is convinced that the relationship is genuine. As most of the people saw Re-med and PPR only after the status changed to In Process, so I believe its a very good sign for you. Background checks take anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months depending on the Visa officer and the extent of checks he wants to do.

In my opinion, writing to them wouldn't make any difference regarding the slow processing of 2010 applications compared to 2011 applications. A couple of things I would suggest would be to avoid the forum as much as you can and engage yourself in something else. The more you think about the Visa, the harder its going to get. I believe you are almost there; once your husband's background check is over, they will send PPR InshaAllah

Danny Bhai i am a 2011 cases n our time line was a bitt close to each other u wife has landed about two months ago now n i still am waiting for Remed n PPR so im guess i fall into the 2010 applications ?? May Allah swt forbid (no fence to 2010 applications)

As you know that a complete application package and forms filled out correctly helps the processing speed of the case as well. If I remember correctly, they sent your husband the forms twice to be filled out and they clearly mentioned him to fill it correctly the 2nd time. I hope he sent everything correctly this time. It is quite possible that the background checks are still underway. May Allah help all those people waiting for Visa from 2010 and early 2011 and they get the good news very soon. You all are in my dua

Thats good atleast they did some activity in your file,by the way you are not the only one in the gruop from 2010 .my husb file transfer is also dec2010 and after med nothing.can you please tell me when did your hudb did his med?

UPDATE: I had sent an email to Jason Kenneys office in June 2012 and finally got this pathetic reply from them ... ULLU hain ye log!!

I am replying to your e-mail of June 2012, addressed to the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, concerning the immigration situation of your husband, Mr. Pakistan. I apologize for the delay in responding.

I appreciate your wish to have your husband join you in Canada as soon as possible. We realize that those who have submitted their applications look forward to being granted permanent resident status within a reasonable waiting period after applying. Please be assured that we make every effort to deal with the applications we receive in the most efficient and effective manner.

Our records indicate that your husband is required to attend an interview. Please be assured that he will be informed as soon as visa officers in Islamabad are in a position to schedule a date and time.

While I realize that this situation is distressing to you, I trust that the information provided is of assistance.

UPDATE: I had sent an email to Jason Kenneys office in June 2012 and finally got this pathetic reply from them ... ULLU hain ye log!!

I am replying to your e-mail of June 2012, addressed to the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, concerning the immigration situation of your husband, Mr. Pakistan. I apologize for the delay in responding.

I appreciate your wish to have your husband join you in Canada as soon as possible. We realize that those who have submitted their applications look forward to being granted permanent resident status within a reasonable waiting period after applying. BTW my wife has declined to do meds as she was in 8.5 months in pregnancy.. wrote a letter to CHC-I.. no reply so far..

Will do meds and send PPR only after delivery.. Inshallah.

What is the difference between Immigration Officer and Decision Making Officer?

Hi all,

On July 16/12, I rec'd email from CHC-ISB saying "This application is currently in process and is in queue to be reviewed by an immigration officer. Currently, background checks are underway for this application."

On Aug 16/20, Status changed from "Application Received" to "In Process". At the same time my husband received a letter from embassy to fill it out and send it back to us with 45 days.

Does that mean, background checks have been completed and if yes why did they send this link to my husband to fill it out and send it back? This link contains travel history, educational background, personal history and all militia questionaire (btw my husband has never served any army or police/military etc).

This is really confusing me alot as I don't know what to do at this point. Early August I also sent a letter to Jason K. but so far no replies from his office. But I know his reply is also not going to help me as I read somebody on the forum posted one letter from Jason K.

Any advise???
