Canadian Citizen going to US on H-1b - Spousal work?

I am planning to move to the US on an H-1b visa (but also have the choice of J1), and my spouse is coming with me. My spouse would like to work, however I understand the H4 visa won't allow work.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the process of getting an EAD. What is the typical timeline of applying for a green card after arriving in the US and then apply for an EAD for my spouse?

If you are not a Indian Citizen then Getting a green card take 1-2 years the PERM process takes 1 year atleast it took 1 year for me. I got my i140 in 2 months but since I am a Indian citizen so couldn't get my GC

I recently filed my H1B extension (premium processing) along with my wives H4 and EAD and approval came within two weeks and EAD recieved in 2 weeks. I have an approved 140.
