Hi All,
I reside in US with my Canadian spouse who is on H1. I have my extended 797 H4, and am applying for my H4 visa and have an appointment scheduled for August. I answered “YES” to the question: Are you traveling from another country to apply for a U.S. visa in Canada?
I was thinking I’m traveling from IS to Canada, so I replied YES. So I didn’t get the option of visa waiver. I have a valid PR card and had my last H4 visa stamped in Ottawa three years ago. Should I have responded YES, and would that have given me the visa waiver option? I meet all criteria for visa waiver since I’m a PR, got my previous H4 stamping in Ottawa and applying at the same consulate.
On the usvisa info site where you can reschedule appointments, it gives me the option to Edit this answer, but it says - “For editing other information, if you already have an appointment scheduled, you must cancel your appointment to edit your information. If you do not have an appointment scheduled, you must sign-in to your account, click on the gear icon dropdown to the far right of the applicant name and select "Edit".”
Will changing the answer to that question help? Are visa waiver appointments available quicker than interview appointments?
