Can I cancel my PR status while I am abroad

Hi All,

I want to cancel my PR status in Canada, I have my PR card valid until 2026 but don’t want headach with double taxation.

I found the required application on the canada immigration website. they are asking to include the original PR card with the application. I am wondering if I can do that while I am abroad or I have to return to Canada?

Nothing to do with double taxation. As long as you remain a non resident of Canada for tax purpose, you are not taxed by Canada on your worldwide income.

You can renounce from outside of Canada.

However agreed with the comment above. This has nothing to do with taxation. You can simply declare yourself as a non-resident and then you don't have to file taxes.
