Hi,

I received request to do medicals by email. The only paper mail that I got was barcodes and the change in personal info form. Yes I am in Montreal. The criminality check says due date is october 5th. So fingers crossed I hear something in the next week or 2.

what is your NOC code? it will be written on your CSQ certificate?

You could get all your documents ready to go until 1 month or 2 weeks before your current WP expires and apply for a new one at the border, it'll be done in about 1hour.. otherwise it'll be online,....2-4 weeks...

Hi Ram,

I believe it is more advantageous for you to apply for the extension of your work permit rather than TRV. As far as I know, you can only stay for as long as 6 months using TRV, while, a work permit will allow you to work and stay longer, a year or two, depending on the situation or your LMO. (correct me if im wrong).

In that case, with an approved extended work permit, u have a longer time to wait for ur FSW application approval. ...

Yes you are right. My LMO specifies duration of employment as 3 years. hence i decided to apply for work permit extension.

I have similar situation as yours, also waiting for Ottawa.

One of my friend who moved to canada last year (on FSW1- he applied in 2009 last quarter) found a job in his IT field (informatica developer or something). It took him 1.5 months to find his first job (luckily he got Full time job in an MNC in Toronto). I visited him couple of times and he seems to be enjoying his life in Canda in IT field after dealing with all H1 issues here in US.

However, Canadian IT market is much much much smaller than US. But if you get your PR, I think you should find a job with US experience and I am sure you will earn MORE than sufficient money to survive in Canada.

This indeed is a very sad & frustating situtation.....

Since I applied in mid 2011 & Im living outside Canada with Buffalo as my VO(now I guess Ottawa) I suppose if everything goes alright it willstill take another year and a half for my Canada PR to arrive(God will).... So I guess patience for another 18 months.

However I would like to ask you, about the job market in Canada. I have heard from family friends, jobs are not as readily availablee as in USA. I have been working in USA from last 5 yrs. Would you have any idea about IT(DBA jobs). How do you find work envt, is it too strict Do one have to start their career from the scratch & no past work experience counts. Is career growth in jobs very slow/stagnant. Because Im wondering people after so much of hardship(getting PR) also return back from Canada with an year.

Just got my GCMS,still in progress and not assigned yet ??? They didn't start the Security check for my wife so i'm wondering when they gonna ask her for medicals, and they didn't even change her adress from back home to Canada (i sent them at leat 3 emails, 1 mail and i also changed on the website) :-\

to changes address always use fax. online does not work and email they do not care...

We should start sending emails to the minister of immigration complaining about the lack of communication of ottawa, maybe if he get thousands of emails /mails he will realise how bad is our situation, we are all paying taxes in this country, they are playing with our future and all they say is , In process !!
