'Landing' refers to becoming a permanent resident.

Work permit or not, you need a visa to enter Canada if you're not from a visa-exempt country.

Agree with LPS.
If you need to go out of Canada you need a TRV.

applied for BOWP June 14th, got approved today (July 3rd) super happy!

Same here! Just checked and my online application was closed and status set to approve. Lets hope my permit comes soon in the mail :)

For others who may be starting to panic: I applied on June 9 and am still waiting.

My WP already expired & I am on "implied status" today.
My OHIP lapsed, my medical/dental insurance coverage stopped.
Our company transferred my insurance coverage to Global AIG, but I have
to pay upfront & get reimburse after a month.

Hello I am applying for BOWP online and in one of the question in the "do you want to come Canada, or extend your stay?" questionnaire its asking me.

Does your family member want to restore their status in Canada? should I say yes or no? as my spouse is on open workpermit and I am applying BOWP for both of us at a time. if I am saying yes, its adding $200 as fees for restoration of the status.

Please advise if I have to say yes or no.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

If this is a stupid question I apologize. I just got my BOWP email in my CIC account and was wondering does it have to be taken to a Port of Entry to be activated?

Also I plan to visit the UK in December so I will need to apply for a TRV by then in order to leave right?

Thank!

Say 'no' - restoration is only required after a permit expires - and is not an option for BOWPs anyway (as for the spousal open work permit I'm not sure).

The permit will arrive in the mail shortly. No need to take it to a POE or anywhere else.

Yes, assuming you're not visa-exempt (technically, it's not in order to leave, but to return :))

Awesome! Thanks very much for the quick reply. I intend to possible take a vacation to Florida in August so I assume I would need one then.

When you say Visa except what exactly do you mean? Would Me being a British Citizen count?

Thanks again :)

Yes it counts. You do not need a visa if you hold a British passport

Great News! Will makes things much easier for me to visit. Didn't want to go home for two weeks for them to not let me back into Canada with the BOWP lol Thanks for the reply!

Question - is the processing time inclusive of the time taken to receive the WP by mail for paper BOWP applications?

Any one? Any idea?
