BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Similar situation myself. I applied for BOWP online June 14th and my current permit expires July 12. Getting really nervous now.

Three times over the past two weeks as I've waited for something to happen with my BOWP application (filed online on June 9), I've had emails from CIC telling me that my application "has been updated." And yet, when I log in to MyCIC and check the application, nothing has changed.

Has anyone else experienced that?

Hi Guys...
I'll be applying for a BOWP by tonight since my PGWP expires july 13, 2014. I've a couple of questions if you guys can help me with. I'm sure some of them may be repetitions of what you've answered before but i cant find the right answers to them and i'm slightly confused.

So i logged in and answered the questionnaire.. Do i...
1. Choose "Initial work permit or a new employer"??
2. Ques 2-7. Do i mention the employer details? if not that what should i write?
3. Do I've to scan all the pages of the passport and study and work permits that i had?
4. The optional document checklist is asking for "Schedule 1". I'm not sure if that applies to me since I've in Canada for the past 5 years.
5. How/where should i upload AOR copy and work permit copy?
6. Do I have to upload a cover/explanation letter?? if yes then stating what?

3) I just scanned the data page and my current WP

4) I did not bother with that

5) In the optional Cover Letter (or Letter of Explanation), I merged my short letter, AoR (though this is not necessary), and my WP

Folks - I have a question with regards to BOWP (paper application). If an applicant applies for a BOWP application before expiry of current WP but the application reaches CIC after the permit has expired, will that lead to rejection of BOWP? Please advise. Thanks!

First of all why you want apply paper application? Online is easy and pretty fast. Obviously if the application reaches CIC after your WP expires no doubt it will rejected that's my understanding thou.

Well yes implied status begins if one applies for a new work permit before the existing one expires. I was just wondering what happens to BOWP if it reaches CIC after the existing work permit has expired, but if the application has been mailed out before the expiry of the current WP. Any idea?

You should mail the application early enough that this does not happen.

The BOWP application has to be received while your existing work permit is still valid, and additionally, you only get implied status by applying for a new permit (or permit extension) while your existing one is still valid.

Generally, the date CIC 'receives' a postal application is the date it is delivered to their office. For certain other CIC services, it is enough for the letter to simply be postmarked before the deadline, but I haven't seen anything official about this applying to work permit applications.

Update for everyone applying for a TRV using their BoWP:

- I applied online for a TRV last June 1 (a Sunday)
- One of the items on checklist is of course the new WP
- Since I will be travelling soon and would like to apply ASAP to have time to still send the passport once approved, I submitted my application without the WP (processing time was 18 days at that point)
- I uploaded instead the Confirmation letter which was auto-generated when the WP was approved
- I explained in my letter that I will submit a copy of the WP once I receive it, but have submitted an application since I will be travelling soon
- This morning, I got the passport request; 5 days of processing was an unexpected relief

Hi..I have received my BOWP. Now i want to apply for TRV , I am trying for online application but I am not getting checklist for TRV, it either shows visitor visa or open work permit. Please suggest me where I am going wrong, I think am giving wrong answers.
