It sounds like the BOWP fee will be $155 + $100 (privilege fee). I am not sure if this privilege fee should be paid by an employer or by the applicant. I am hoping that it is by the applicant. The lesser support we require from employers in terms of "sponsorship", the better for us.

It does mention that employers are required to directly submit job offers to CIC and there's a privilege fee of $100. I think they are applicable to BOWP & PGWP but then again I am not entirely sure. We will have to wait till next week to find out.

Yes - I guess the BOWP will effectively be $255.

As for 'directly submitting job offers to CIC', I assumed this wasn't a restriction, just that CIC wants a copy of the document - part of today's announcement was that they are going to improve their statistics on all foreign workers, including those on open permits.

I sure hope it is just a copy of a job offer! Because if it is more than that my employer is definitely not going to support me. Also submitting a job offer for an open work permit defeats the whole purpose of an open work permit. It was supposed to help foreign workers find work anywhere in Canada. Also the information on http://www.esdc.gc.ca/eng/jobs/foreign_workers/reform/imp.shtml is a tad different. It makes no mention of employers submitting job offers directly to CIC for open work permit holders. I sure hope it stays that way.
Well ... when it comes to surprises from CIC, you can be sure that it is not a good one. Uggh!

i have just sent out my paper application for BOWP this morning, I've only paid $155. What should I do?

They have only announced that the $100 fee will be implemented soon.

The fee list hasn't changed:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp

Neither have the instructions:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5553ETOC.asp

Note that the announcement mentions open permit "holders", not open permit "applicants", so it seems possible that they will levy the $100 fee on people who already have their permit.

I don't think for BOWP they will ask Job offer also ? BOWP don't serve this purpose

Hello, got a question regarding processing times for a BOWP sent by mail.

I sent mine out on May 12th and, well, still have yet to hear anything back. I hear a lot of people getting theirs in periods of like 2 weeks or so, so I'm a tad worried. I haven't received any email or other correspondence. Is this time period acceptable for an application sent via mail and I'm just worrying for nothing, or is there someone I should be trying to contact to clarify this?

Thanks!

I think they are still processing applications received in late April to early May.

To add to the above - if you applied by post, you won't receive an email if your application was approved - the permit will just turn up in your letterbox.

Thanks for the additional info.

How about rejection? also by mail? (touchwood! but since I've sent it ahead of receiving an AOR...)

Thank you MenicMonday, I am gonna say no then. Thank you for all your help.

I completed my medical last Feb.01 together with my son,but my wife just completed her medical last June 09 due to pregnancy.
My first BOWP will expire on Aug.12 of this year.Is it necessary to apply for a BOWP extension? But the thing is Service Canada is asking
for an extension to give her the maternity benefits?

Ah thanks, guess I was worrying for no reason. I've been on implied status for like, almost a month already. Just gon' be implied forever~

Hi group,

I just want to share my BOWP information that I applied online.

File Online: 4th June 2014
Approved information online: 20th June 2014

But I did not receive any information in email from CIC about the approval information, it was online in MyCIC there was some activity which mentioned that "application status: Application Approved". Will I received any information to my email or how long will it take to receive a copy to my mailing address to be sure it is approved.
