That is what I figured - thanks! I am not sure if it's 40 days to process the OWP with an online application, but I believe it is for receiving the AOR. Have you gotten any updates on your BOWP? (by the way - when you say OWP you mean the same as BOWP, correct?)

the processing times webpage are saying 40 days for online OWP (which a BWOP is).
If you check the spreadsheet for January 2013, February 2013 and March 2013 CEC applications - its averaging out at 40 days from Application Filed to AOR received.

Congratulations CEC2013! That must be a relief.

Thanks. Yea, definitely! Not happy that they skimmed 2 months off my current permit...but I'm not gonna complain. An extension is an extension. At least I can do some planning now. :)

u mean u didn't receive up to one year extension???

I received my BOWP today via mail. I applied electronically on March 26th.

My current VISA expires July 2013 and my new (BOWP) VISA expires April 2014. On the BOWP, it tells me that I can't re-enter Canada, however I was planning on travelling to the states in June. As my current VISA has a July expiry, can I travel to the states and have no issues coming back?

If you are travelling to USA, then you can enter with your work permit or student visa etc.

Oh i see

Thats exactly right. Same as marcowatty, my initial permit was good until july, but the newly issued bowp superseded it, and now the 1 year countdown starts from april.

So, yea, technically a 10 month extension. Thats why I suggested waiting for as long as you can until you apply for bowp.

- If you are traveling by land, you don't need a visa to return from the USA. But you do if you are flying.
- A work permit is not a visa. The visa is a travel document that allows you to board a flight to Canada. Some of us are from visa-exempt countries, but apparently you are not.
- If you travel in June and your visa doesn't expire until July... wait, what's the problem? :)

Hi marcowatty

Your BOWP is work permit authorise you to work in Canada it is not a VISA, thats why it might be saying 'THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZED RE-ENTRY'

You need multiple entry visa also called TRV for entering in Canada. Yes as you got your new BOWP now you can ask for TRV if you are planning to leave and come back to canada in near future.

Hi CEC2013,
I hear you!

In my case, the closed work permit ends in September 2014.

Since i am unemployed and desperately in need of a job and have been very unlucky in terms of finding an employer who will do the LMO for me, what do you mean that one needs to wait as long as we can to order for a BOWP.

Especially in my case, as the situation is tricky and I will be applying for my PR latest by mid July this year.

I applied for OWP online on March 18.
I called the CIC today and was told by an agent that my OWP has been issued 2 days ago :)
Funny how I did not receive a personal message in myCICm, tho...
