BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Hi All,

I am trying to apply my BOWP online and i have few questions:

1. How do I view the document after uploading it?
2. If I want to include my "10 years Employment history" in an additional sheet, where i can upload it? Is it insert with Form 5710?
3. After validating the Form 5710, I saved it into my desktop for uploading. However i confused the cic website instructions says scan and save it but i didn't scan it so my questions is the form should be uploaded properly without scanning?

1. You cannot view your documents once uploaded or submitted. And you can only update them before submission or if CIC requests you to do so.
2. Add an any additional pages to your letter of explanation pdf.
3. You only print and scan it if you fill it out by hand. You don't need to do so when you upload it online. You will also submit an electronic signature for it. No worries.

I have a question for you for the BOWP. I have applied for PR under the PNP-express Entry. I have NO Restrictions on Employment on my PN Certificate. Would I still require a "LETTER OF Work Permit SUPPORT" from the province or territory for the BOWP application as per their original check list requirement? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Has any of you extended your BOWP before? I am just wondering what would happen if i still don't have my PR by the time my BOWP expires. Also, has any of you experienced difficulties switching jobs when you are on the BOWP? I have heard that some employers may not want to hire you into a new job considering the fact that your BOWP is only valid for a year, which would pose a risk for them.

My closed work permit is going to expire in March and would like to apply for BOWP now.

Can you please help me how to apply for BOWP. This is the first time I am planning apply on my own.

I got my first BOWP in April 2015 (I am planning to renew it in a couple of months, I am probably going to wait until 2 weeks before it expires to be on the implied status and hopefully get my PR before this summer - I am an October 2014 app). As soon as I received my BOWP I quit my job and got a new one with a better salary and way more interesting (I had a close work permit before). My employer never ever asked me anything about my status here: they know I had a visa, I have always been very transparent with them, but honestly? They don't really care...

Hi Guys,

I have a quick question regarding the BOWP application I submitted today. Under the Given name I have provided " not applicable" as I just carry one name which I have put under the Surname field.I checked later that CIC asks you to leave the field blank if you do not have other name,i.e. ,don't write "not applicable". Now that I already submitted it,im just afraid if they could make big deal out of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hello everyone,

I have some quick questions. I need to renew my BOWP (I am an October 2014 applicant, had MR and additional doc request late June 2015, since then nothing) that expires in April 2016. I want to do it now as I really want to avoid being under implied status, it is wayyyyy too stressful (did that last year, I woke up every 3h every night to check my emails).

Last year I filed my BOWP application online, and I am doing the same this year so I can check the status. However, I notice that a few things have changed...
- You don't have a document checklist anymore?
- The docs are saved in PDF that you can modified... I guess it's ok to upload them?
- I am applying from within Canada. Do I have to fill the "Schedule 1 - Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada (IMM 5257)"? (I actually filled it and just realized how it's called, but just in case)

I am really sorry, with all this paperwork and stress waiting for the PR I am really scared to make a mistake and have my BOWP refused... :/ Could anyone help me with that?

Hi all,
After finishing 2 year study I got 3year wp and more than 2 years I am working as a skilled worker (lab analyst ). After getting wp I called my wife and we moved to Calgary. In 2014 my daughter is born here and she is Canadian citizen. I have applied for PR under express entry and eligible for CEC and FSW class in June 2015 and have 423 CRS point. Moreover I have applied under AINP on March 2015 but I didn't get any news from them as well. My wp is expired on November 2015 and applied for extension on October 2015 and additionally my wife is second time pregnant. We are worried about our extension first. Anybody have any suggestions for getting extension of wp please let me know.

For those who applied for BOWP with Temporary Resident

what does it say on the temporary resident is that a separate thing aside from the work permit?
does it say valid for re-entry?

cos the 1st BOWP i got says not valid for re-entry but that time there was no Temporary Resident that goes along with the BOWP application.

Can somebody who already got the docs for this please confirm.

I applied for PR under provincial nominee,paper based, and I got my AOR last week.
I want to apply for BOWP but I am not sure if I can apply or not as I am a religious worker under R186L.
Can I still apply or not? Please advise.

I dont think you can work for a new Employer till you get the BOWP....The rule says that you would have to abide by the previous conditions until you get the new BOWP...So if you are on Closed WP as of now, you will have to follow the conditions till u get the BOWP....

Agree. Thanks for the information.

BOWP is a lengthy process, the processing time must be less than 15 days. Otherwise, it is same as applying for a new work permit without the "Bridge".

Wondering if anyone can assist on this:

I was on a closed work permit, based on a positive LMIA. In order to extend, would I have been eligible for a BOWP or must I have undergone the LMIA process again?

I went from post grad Open permit, to LMIA closed permit, to needing to extend while my PR was being processed.

I ended up converting to visitor stats and stopped working. Just wondering what the correct application would have been. I was with the same company the entire time.
