^ So what's the problem? LMOs aren't needed for open permits.

Thank you Karioca. ;)

I got a Bridging Open Work Permit a month ago.

My timelines are here.

Application of PR
May 22, 2012 Application received (under CEC)
Sep 20, 2012 AOR received
Jan 23, 2013 Medical requested
Jan 31, 2013 Medical done

My previous work permit was scheduled to be expired on 1 March 2013.

Application of BOWP
Dec 25, 2012 Applied BOWP on-line
Feb 14, 2013 Requested the offer of employment
Feb 15, 2013 Uploaded explanation letter (Why I don't need to provide the offer of employment)
Feb 28, 2013 No response from CIC office even though the normal processing time was passed
Feb 28, 2013 Made a phone call to CIC call centre
Agent told me my work permit was issued on Feb 25, 2013 and will be delivered
Feb 28, 2013 Found it was delivered (Issued: Feb 25, 2013, Valid until: Feb 25, 2014)

In my case, it was sufficient to apply BOWP with AOR received.

Guys i need advise. I applied for BOWP, and my current OWP is expiring soon. My employer havent asked me anything yet. Is this normal? Should I tell them or wait? I dont know how implied status works.

If you submit your application for new WP while the old one is still valid you're under implied status until your application is processed.

You should be fine and you don't have to tell your employer anything until you get the new work permit. Then provide them with a copy.

@Syedabbas82

Applying for BOWP without AOR (acknowledgement) number is quite risk. I have read in this forum that few lucky ones got it. You can just give a try as its a matter of $155.

You cannot apply for your family as the rule says the applicant should be in Canada. Hope this info helps.

Wish you good luck....

Hey guys, just wanted to confirm with all of You. If my work permit is due to expire on November 30, 2014. I'm good to apply for BOWP on August 1st, right?

Thanks!

Received my BOWP last Friday after 2 months(May 22 filed, officer made 2 wrong entry errors on my sons passport).
Now I have to surrender it to CIC since I already landed.

Hello everyone! Just a question. Since we already have our BOWP, my kids are not required to renew their Study permits anymore and instead we just presented our work permit to the school board for them to continue their studies. But my problem is, all our TRVs will be expiring in September. Me and my husband doesn't need to apply since we do not intend to fly out of Canada until we get our PR. But our problem is our kids. Can they stay here without TRV and Study Permit? Or should we just renew their TRVs?

Anyone who has experienced the same?

Thank you in advance :)

I applied online with spouse & kid. The delay was caused by the entry error on the part of the officer. I just have to surrender it to CIC office.

It should be noted that this new page currently contains the exact same text as the old OB485A (but keep an eye on the modification date).

I have received my BOWP in the mail today, I just wonder what's the next step?

My case is a bit different, since my employer applied LMO for me and got refused, I applied the BOWP under implied status. And since I couldn't provide a positive LMO, my closed work permit application was refused as well and thus I became out of status.

I have to wait for the decision of BOWP so I havent applied for restoration of status yet.

Since restoration must be done by paper application which means another long wait, and I need to get working asap to support my living, I just wonder if I can go flag-poling? I'm from a TRV-exempt country.

Please advise. Thank you so much!
