thank you, probably i should wait till end of this month to file bowp. Hoping DM very very soon....
Yes you can wait until August before you apply BOWP. I applied BOWP May 22 and our WP expired on June 29. Even our TRV expired on June 6.
Now I got the PR visa and after landing the BOWP application will be automatically cancelled.

How long is the processing of BOWP? Did you received it?

The trend is 2 weeks, but some received it earlier. I didn't received it at all maybe because I already got PPR and PR visa stamped already.

Hi,

here is my situation:

I have recently apply for permanent residence (I am the principle applicant) under PNP-SINP Hospitality last May. my work permit is expiring on Nov. 2014

My husband is on closed work permit will expire on Sept 2015 under the same employer as mine.

My questions are:

1. Can I apply for open work permit for him even his WP is still valid for almost a year?

2. Can I also apply BOWP even i am under SINP Hopitality sector?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hi. does anyone here experienced applying for bowp with work permit expiring in more than 4 months? my wp will expire on january 2015 and i have applied for bowp because i need to complete some hours for my nursing license by the end of the year. however, my work permit is not the same occupation so i took the chance. i hope i won't be denied even if i have 6 months away from my expiry date.

Hey guys I need advice, my PGWP is expiring and I applied for BOWP. I did fill the employer information section with actual information, my title, job duties and address. Should I be concerned? I just dont want the permit to mention the employer, would that make it a closed work permit? I think I screwed up

An open permit by definition is not restricted to an employer. Did you specify "Open Work Permit" as the type? Did you include a letter explaining that you were applying for BOWP?

I just included the AOR number and that I applied for PR. But isnt BOWP "Bridge Open Work Permit"?
Yes, but if you include information about an employer CIC might issue a closed work permit. You have to chose Open Work permit as the type
and mention BOWP on the form as well.

But dont they need an LMO? I think i just screwed everything up. If this helps, my PGWP is open.

From OB485a:

"Applicants must submit an Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710], indicating that they are applying for an Open Work Permit.

WP applications received after the effective date that make no mention of requesting an “open” WP should be processed based on the services being requested. For example, if the applicant has submitted a WP application with an LMO, the processing office is to issue the WP, restricted to the employer outlined on the LMO, assuming normal entitlements."

So if you did indeed request an open work permit type, and indicated why you are eligible for an open work permit (i.e. a PR applicant with an AOR) then they should issue you the open permit, regardless of any superfluous employer information you may have put in.

But no LMO is attached, since I never had one. in the application I specified that I would like to apply for a Bridge Work permit. Being over thinking after reading some CEC threads...
