Your employer must at least see your work permit, or other document authorizing you to work.
For implied status, you should give them evidence that you submitted a new work permit application, and that it was delivered by the deadline. For me, this was a complete copy of the application, the tracking slip, and tracking information that confirmed it had been delivered to CPC-Vegreville by the deadline.
