Day One starts tomorrow just got everything in order and will be at the post office first thing. I found this forum very helpful pretty much answered every questions I had and we believe we should be enough to have a successful application. Only thing we did not do is the medical yet we are waiting until the application to arrive in Bogota just to ensure we dont have to get them renewed if it goes past the one year mark. Thanks for all the help everyone... fingers crossed and hope all goes well
We also waited to get our medicals when they requested them (this could add some time to your case) and I should be getting my passport this week with my visa. It will expire in September so I had no need to redo them but as I said it will add some time to the processing time.

Hey guys,

Today I received my visa and CRP! It took exactly 10 working days from the point of PPR.

It was a long process but I'm two weeks I'll be reunited with my hubby. If anyone comes across this forum and might have a question about the process as in my case I went through an ARC please send a private message so I get a notification on my email as I probably won't be back on the site until I can sponsor my family in the future.

I wish everyone who is still in this process the best of luck and that your love for your significant other stays stronger and stronger as each day passes by. May god bless you all.

We just got our passport request from the Bogota Visa Office. We are so thrilled.

How did send their passports in? What courier service did you use? We live near the embassy so I was wondering if i could/should hand deliver it.

Did you send a prepaid return envelop?

Thanks everyone for all your helpful postings!

One question guys.. How long does it take to have access to ecas after receiving the AOR from the Embassy? I can access mine, sponsor, but cannot access ecas using my wife's UCI or her application number.
has your wife received an AOR from the Bogota Office? if not then only til you get the AOR you can have access otherwise not. if you have then you shouldnt have any problems.
I noticed we got similar times I applied in november too and we recently got a request for background verification fees. have you got any news on your case?

Hi everyone!

My wife and I (the sponsored spouse) are really excited since we have starting to go through a fast process. It seems the embassy is moving faster than usual and so we have been contacted by them really often and in little time. We sent our application on November 19th, 2012. Then, 3 months later, as it corresponds to the processing time for the Sponsor, my wife was accepted. This was on February 23rd. Then, 4 days later, on February 27th, I received an email from the Bogotá Visa Office, stating that they had received my application. However, checking my eCas, it didn't mention anything about it being processed. I was notified by my e-Cas tracker by an email. I checked it and it stated that my application had been opened and started to be processed.
Then last April 12th, 2013 I received an email asking for a translated copy of my military card. We had it sent right away. Exactly a week later, last April 19th, 2013, I received another email which had attached the model of the receipt to pay the fee for background verifications from Colombia. We also had it sent right away. My wife read that this step is highly positive and shows that the process may take shorter time. We are really excited! Can anyone, specially those who already obtained the visa, tell me if this step may be close to the final one? I know it has been little time. But our love story backs up to almost 10 years of relationship! And my wife has been in Canada since 2006. On may 15th it will be 7 years since she left. Although she now comes often, we are looking forward to reaching soon a happy ending. Any comments, welcome! ;)

HI Karensp29,
We received the AOR from the Bogota Office on March 13 but I haven't been able to access my ecas using her information. Unfortunately, we havent heard anything yet. I saw in the November spreadsheet you submitted your application around three weeks earlier than us. When did you get the request for the background verification fees?

That is fantastic news!! :D
Never seen it go this fast before. Me and my wife know each other since we were in high school, 10 years ago also, and we've been married for three years now. I usually went back to Colombia to visit once every year and sometimes twice in the same year. :) I was just there in February for three weeks. All I do now is pray to God the Bogota visa office moves faster for my sanity sake!

Congrats on the fast process so far.

Hi Karenesp29,

My wife got an email yesterday from the embassy requesting the payment for the background verification fees. She already made the payment and mailed the receipt today.
I see you got a request to re-do the medicals? My wife and daughter's medicals expire next month. For what it looks like, they'll probably have to do them again.

Hey Coljhag !!!

That is awesome news!!! You know? Our situation is - from what you have said - almost identical but the other way round. My wife and I also met while in High School and next year will be our tenth year of relationship. I say the other way round, because you are sponsoring your wife, but in my case I am being sponsored. And you sent your application just a week later than us!!! ;)
For you to have things clearer, Karenesp29, who has been commenting here, is my wife. I am her sponsored spouse ;) I want to add that yes, I received the THIRD email from the embassy in TWO weeks time (last April 29th). I had to repeat the chest x-rays. I did it immediately. Yesterday I had the exams done and then they will be hopefully on Saturday in Canada. It is exciting!!! I see that in our cases things are moving fast! I also had to pay the Background verification fees a week ago and so for you guys has been almost similar. My exams would expire on May 30th but look! I had to have them done exactly one month before! I think that is good news. The certificate of the background check delays between 6 and 8 weeks to arrive in the embassy. By that time exams and all required documents will be ready. Hopefully it won't take much longer until I can get the Visa.

Keep in touch please and so will we. Take care and wish you both the best! ;)

Hi canadasoon2013,
We just got an email from Bogota Visa Office requesting new medicals even though they expire next month. It's exciting to know they are working on the application. :)
