yes, anybody travelling to Bogota better make some ARRANGEMENTS......to pay a ransom to kidnappers !

Here is their latest method:

Most kidnappings are for ransom and foreigners are potential targets.
Assaults and robberies have occurred after thieves have exposed travellers to incapacitating chemicals, either by aerosol spray or by paper handouts.
Chemically treated paper can cause unconsciousness, especially if the chemicals contact your face (via your hand).
There is a risk of violence, kidnapping and being caught in road blocks set up by illegal armed groups when travelling by road outside major capitals, including to rural tourist destination

Hello,
We have not submitted our application yet. Is it a good idea to submit the medical now before they ask for it? I would prefer to get everything done now. I just called a panel physican but the receptionist wasn't able to tell me what form I needed to bring. Can you please help and let me know where I can find the correct form? She mentioned something about it being done online but then said we were responsible for bringing the documents (maybe this just means passport). I'm a bit confused.

Also, I've read a few people mentioning fingerprints. When does that happen? Does that happen with the police check? Any information/help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there... The panel physician fills out the forms online at his/her office. You just need to bring your passport, and photos i believe. There used to be an extra form you had to take, but I no longer see that listed in the guide. I have heard that the format has changed recently, so as far as I know, you just bring your passport, and 4 recent pictures...see the instructions by following this link...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/Med-Exam-Instructions-eng.pdf

Photos are the same size as the ones you get for your residency application.

Hi cinc, in my opinion I would just say wait until you submit your application and they ask you for them. If I would have submitted my medicals with my application at first they would have expired in 3 months from now and I'm still into my process, meaning I would most likely have to redo them soon. I got asked to do them in August so I'm hoping by then I have an answer, or else I'll still have to redo them. Then again that is just my opinion if you want truly professional help its best to seek legal advice. I also wonder what happens with the whole fingerprint deal. Best of luck for this journey you and your are about to begin.

Not sure about the fingerprint thing either...my wife didn't do any fingerprints, nor has been asked for any

Hi guys! One quick question, when is the appropriate time to pay the RPRF? We were told to wait until they ask for it but I was reading that it might delay our process 8 weeks. Also is it true that the sponsor is the one that has to make the payment?

Make the total payment all together at the beginning...$1040 for everything, which includes the RPRF. Yes, you're right. If you don't pay it at the beginning and wait until they request the payment, it could delay the process, since payments get processed in Mississauga, then they have to forward that info to the visa office.

We only paid the 550 at the beginning ??? Not even the lawyer we had told us about the RPRF until a couple of weeks ago. We called CIC today and they said we could make the payment so we are doing so tonight and sending the receipt to mussissauga. We hope that they notify Bogota soon enough so it doesn't cause a big delay in our case if it already hasn't :(

What's this RPRF and how do I pay it? We haven't submitted anything yet other than the $550 payment. Hope to submit by the end of next week.

The RPRF fee is the Right of Permanent Residency fee. If you are approved for residency, then you will be asked to pay it. While you don't have to pay it up front, it is recommended that you do so to avoid delays in your application. It is an additional $490. I would go ahead and pay it online, and submit both receipts, the original payment and the RPRF, with your application.
