Hi guys! ;D

Well somtime this week or next week its going to be 24 long months since we applied to Misssga :o, 21 months since arrived to Bogota. patience has been the key! fortunately we have been able to see each other a few times here and there, and we gonna see each other in about 12 days to spend the holidays here in Colombia. Sometime last week I received an email from the VO and they requested an updated IMM0008, IMM5406E and the payment for the risk management, again. I paid this back in April 2011 but it was 35 thousand pesos back then, now is 60 thousand! anyways I made the payment and submitted the requested documents on the same day, the IMM008 looks a bit different to the one we submitted to Misssga. I guess the ARC was approved and they just have to make the police background checks one more time, I guess they expired, they take 4 to 6 weeks to process. anyways we are hoping to receive the visa in January so we can go back together, It will be great! ;D

Well even though you've had a very long wait, it appears you're getting close to the end of the journey! There must be some way to re-vamp the system to make the process faster. I mean seriously...does it take 2 years of work to process an application? It would be interested to know the exact amount of man-hours it takes to process an application compared to the processing time. 24 months works out to 4160 working hours (based on 40 hours a week.) You can't tell me that it takes that many hours to make a decision!!!!

24 months? And the passport was requested in March 2012? Do you know what caused the delay?

We applied 12 months ago, had a letter in April 2012 saying "processing time should be another 10 months" (which will put us at February 2013) and the passport was requested July 2012.

Well is not a routine case, a departure order became a deportation order so we had to apply for an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC). Looks like its done, only a couple of things to process as I mentioned earlier.

Thanks. Good luck!

Still no instructions from bogota to get the police checks!

ok so I'm getting a little concerned/worried... they start counting the 16 months from the date the "application was received" according to ecas, correct? Or do they count it from the time the application was "in process" ? :o

My wife has just recieved passport request this morning :D
Good Day,

This refers to your application for a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa. We are now ready to issue your Permanent Resident visas. Please note that the visa will be valid only until 2013/11/xx
.

it looks like she is pretty much ready to recieve the visa. she just redid her medicals about 4weeks ago. As i speculated we are now looking at January or February 2013. We are getting there bit by bit. We are now in the final push zone!

It starts from the date received by the embassy...which is usually 2-3 weeks after your sponsorship approval

Thats awesome! Congrats! You're a lot farther through the process than we are, and we only applied 2 weeks later than you did! Where is the consistency!

And my wife did her re-medicals like 6 weeks ago and still no news.....

Thanks so much Ccunnington. I dont think you are far behind. You should be hearing something from them pretty soon. Just dont call them or email them. I heard phone calls and emails can add to the delay a bit. i dont know how far true it is. My wife was pushing me to call and email and i never contacted them unless they contacted us first. I wish all of us the best!!

It looks like we recieved medical request on the same day 10/22/12. when did your wife do her medicals? my wife went on the 30th of October. I am quite positive you will get some mail from them soon. You had a Passport request before a new medical request? You are almost there be happy :)

My wife did here re-medicals 24th October, Ottawa received them on 31st October. Yes passports were requested way before the request for re-medicals (July 31st). I hope we get some news soon.....
