Some people wait months. There really is no set timeline.

But even with an approved eta, does one still need the authorization letter to travel?
It depends on who you are wanting to visit in Canada.

What is your relationship to that person and what is their status in Canada?

My brother who is a permanent resident in Canada
In that case you do need authorization to board an airplane at this time. The eTA alone is not sufficient. Hopefully you'll have an answer soon.

Question. I am a Canadian citizen. My wife (Indian) got her IM-1 visa in March, 2021 and she is stuck in India because all the flights are banned from India. Because she is my spouse. has a valid visa and want to permanently settle to Canada, she wouldn't need a written authorization to travel, right? My question is that can she still travel directly to Canada even though there is a ban?

There are no direct flights to Canada from India due to the ban so even citizens can’t travel directly. She doesn’t need written authorization.

Do i need to reapply for work permit again in august ? Waiting for your reply. Thanks
