In my case, they did not ask for the old passport. They just they took the new one "in person", and did not even bother asking about the old one.

I renewed my passport when my application was In Process in Buffalo, and sent them a photocopy of the new one.

Thanks Professional 1 for the quick response.

what about if we send the passports by mail? Do we need to send both old and the new passport for the stamping.

Hey Guys,

Just got the PPR today...a best Christmas gift I can ever get...seems like NYVO is speeding up.. :D....

To make sure...the photo specs are same as the one we give at the time of Medical or is it different?

Hi Professiona 1 and Jits1000,

After reading your post, I started worying about my situation. I'm going to land at the end of this month and plan only spend a couple nights there. I plan to completely move to Canada in the next spring at my second landing. Do you think if this will affect me to get my PR card? I actually hope to fly to Canada agin in March. Based on jits1000's experience, to get PR card we have to wait more than 2 months. I'm afraid this will make me be unable to enter Canada in March. What do you think? What shall I say at YYZ (Pearson) if I'm asked by those custom officers. Thank you for your suggestion and advice!

I did the landing on the 18th Dec and during the landing I mentioned I will go back in a couple of days and will be back in summer. Immigration officer said, I will get a mail from the office when the PR card is ready and in that card they will mention which office to pick up. He said, we need to pick up the card in person. I will need to make another trip to Toronto in early spring, hope the card will be ready for pick up by that time. So we going out/ in Canada will not affect the PR card processing as such! Now recently they have made it that we need to pick up the card in person, previously they used to send in via mail.

I think it is the same idea. However, if you wanna avoid any delays resulted from this issue, send both of them.

When my cousin went to Buffalo, i gave him both passports the new and the old, but they did not ask for it, and did not even know that he was carrying it with him.

Jits1000's situation in the PR card delay is not quite normal, the member above "nmat" gave you his personal experience in a similar situation as yours.

Good luck.

Hi,

I am planning to send the passport to LA office for the stamping soon but my question is do we need to send the expired passport along with the renewed passport for stamping ? or is it fine to send the new passport only ?Can any one please clarify. I sent the photo copies of the renewed passport when the file was under process.

Thanks

karsatjaya,

I had sent only my new passport (albiet, they returned it for a different reason). Sending in only new passport is fine.

Thanks Professional 1 and Jang for your responses.

If you have a valid US. driving licence, they will switch it automatically for you in Canada. No need to show them any letters, just the driving lisence itself.

Hello first of all congratulation to You > that ur med's is done..best luck for visa get done asap.
for driving lic.. it depends in which province you r going. for ontario , accepts any us state 's valid driving lic. intialy u can drive with us lic. and you can just show ur lic and proper docs to local dmv in canada to get lic. you are not required to give test.

For more information you can check on local DOT web..

My DMP said they mailed the Medical results on 16th Dec, i guess its through a normal Mail.
Could anyone tell me how many days does it take for the Medical results package to reach Ottawa from New Jersey...?

Any idea when i can expect PPR....? Pls see my timeline in the profile.

My Passport expires in Aug2011. I think i will have to get it renewed.....not sure if i can get the new/renewed PP back by the time PPR arrives..!!!!
Any thoughts dear friends..?

Yarla7bh,

In most cases, the DMPs send by Fedex or other courier services and also give you the tracking #. From the day the medical is done, the average time to send the results is about 5-7 business days. Did u request your DMP as to how they sent it?
