Thanks ubc2010. These answers are really helpful. I have more questions for you and the other people. Those are -

- My MA degree completed on December 2011 but the degree convocation (conferred on) was on June 2012. Which one is relevant for CIC in calculating my hours after graduations (for CEC application)? I got a PGWP at December 2011 though for that MA degree. How do I prove that?

- The NOC code for TA/RA is very confusing. Which one I should use in application? 4012?

-Do i need to submit official transcripts for all of my degrees? Is it ok if I don't submit the transcript? Do i need to send certificates too?

-My Bachelor degree is from Bangladesh, then the MA is from Canada. Do I need to submit an ECA report for the bachelor degree from Bangladesh (for FSW-PhD stream application)? or simply mentioning that degree is ok?

If I'm not mistaken, OP's letter was actually accepted by the visa office and his/her application was approved under the CEC Class !!!. Apparently, he/she also used this letter to demonstrate the intention of leaving Quebec

Please go back and check previous posts before you pass any judgements.

I will post my work exp. letters as you requested.

I sent to the cic the following:
"I wonder if you considered my updated work experience letters that I sent via email and mail few months ago, in June and July, 2013."
I expect that the cic will reply within a month or so, as aidina got his reply.

Today, I ordered two CAIPS for the two applications of Nov 12 and May 13 to see what happened exactly.

I reviewed the emails that I got from the cic. One of them was on July, it confirms that the cic received the following:
-Letter from PA
-Proof of Funds
-Birth Certificate
-Medical Report
-Study Permit
-Copy of passport
-CV
-POE
(I do not know what PoE is).

I have the following options now:
1) to wait and hear from them
2) to see the process of appealing
3) to see the MP
4) to focus on the second application

What should I do next?

Go to MP as well. It may help.
When they rejected me because of the error in IELTS score, I emailed them about that. The next day, I went to MP and the MP assistant called them. In few days, they reopened my file.

I don't understand...You are saying that CIC received your Medical Report, then rejected you? Why did they ask you to send
Study Permit, Copy of passport and Birth Certificate? Didn't you include them in your application package?
I guess POE is PhD information.

Do you mean he did medical examination before they ask him? why should someone do this??!
I'm saying POE means PhD info because after my friend sent her CV and PhD info, "POE received" showed up in her GCMS. She had not sent any employment letter...However, maybe I'm wrong.

People bring problem in this forum and that is right everyone do that. People come in this forum only after having serious problem, before that they just watch annonymously that is also okay. But the most weird thing is that they seek the solution but do not want to share their case in full. What is wrong with sharing the things that has the problem? No one is asking personal informations and details. If those who shared their case in detail this provide the opportunity to learn for others. So guys please if you want to share the problem and get help from others share your case in details so that you can get better help and this also help other how this journey (PR) go ahead and correct themselves in time.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum. I applied on March 08 2013 under PhD stream. My CC got charged on March 18 2013. I did not hear from CIC until August 2013 when they asked for some supporting documents such as field of study, detailed contact information of my supervisor, etc. I provided them with the required documents and so far I have not been updated any more. The status of my application now is "in Progress" and when I click on that link It say "1. we received your application on March 08, 2013". Is it the same for everyone? I do not know how long I should be waiting to hear from them!!! Does access to information help to see what is the status of my application? Any comment is appreciated.

When I was rejected, I took some docs to MP and the assistant found it strange that my case was rejected. She called Ottawa and someone answered and said that when the reason is experience letter the only option is to reapply. I prepared a letter along with my supporting docs so that MP's office sends on my behalf. They were not willing and kept saying that as far as they know there is no appeal, and I need to reapply and started to educate me about CEC. By the way, she was nice and kind and listened to me.

I did send my letter to Ottawa myself and asked if they considered my updated letters. They replied in less than 12 hours and said that yes they did, that my letters were garbage and my application has been concluded. I did not go to MP to follow my case because I am drained of this two years full of stress, a rejection at the end, and preparing my next application.

Now, this was my case but I think it does not hurt if you also try it for yourself. Who knows, maybe they did not consider your updated letters and you can reopen your case just by an email.

My CEC application based on Graduate Research Studentship was also rejected Aug-2013 (where my supervisor recommended me and wrote that I worked 40hrs/week for 2+ years).

Now am planning to apply through FSW-Phd stream as I have enough, non-GRS related, work experience. The only thing that is bugging me is should I mentioned that I worked as full time GRS again or not.

If I do, I think they will reject my application as they are doing for others, in short feels it will weaken my application ..

If I dont, then wont it be hiding information and on tops they may have my info in their database from my previous application ..

What did you do in your re-application?

Hi emrulh, ubc2010 has mentioned this to you, but let me repeat again that I don't think you will qualify to apply under CEC, since it'll be hard to convince immigration that you are not studying full-time while doing your PhD.

I understand that you have parallel work experience that had been gained under PGWP, but upon reading CEC regulations,

Any period of employment during which the applicant was engaged in full-time study will not be included in calculating the period of qualifying work experience (e.g. work experience gained through co-op work permits, off-campus work permits while a full-time student, and on-campus work permits).

we see that, if you are employed during the time you are engaged in full-time study (the way I see it, even if you have gained the work experience elsewhere and not at school, since it says ANY), then this work experience cannot count for the purpose of calculating qualifying work experience.

For PhD stream, though, your work experience will be accepted, since they did not say anything about getting the work experience during full-time study, so I really think you should focus on applying under the PhD stream rather than CEC.

I am not expert so do not stick to my words and do enough research. If I were you, because they do accept RA in PhD stream, I would include this with a good letter and with a reasonable number of hours. I do not think this is misrepresentation, particularly because you are reducing the number of hours.

It is also not a bad idea to include strong reference letters only and ignore the rest. If you decide not to include RAship, I think it is also Okay because you are "not claiming something". Not claiming is not hiding because you are simply giving up some experience that can bring you extra points. But in your background history you will say that you were student and were performing research etc at university.
