Is the service free?

Member of Parliament- One who is democratically elected and represents your constituency/riding in parliament hill in Ottawa. Just look up who this person is (google) and contact his/her assistant. Every MP will have a local office so this is were you should go to. No appointments are required for meeting the assistant I guess...

Yes absolutely ! MP's are elected to serve the people and if they accept a monetary benefit that would be corruption !

Thanks, I will contact the person in my area right away. Thanks. Do you think I can get any positive response? Like speeding up my process?

I would wait for about a week after the letter has been delivered. However, if you expect your application to be assessed soon, then it might be a good idea to inquire.

Did you write them an email asking specifically if they received an updated letter of reference? If no, you should email ottpilot-immigration @ cic.gc.ca and ask if they received your document. Make sure you provide enough detail about yourself so that they could easily identify you.

Thanks dear.

just an update guys..i finally sent in our passports today ;D..
had to wait till yesterday to get our PCCs and passports back from the indian consulate >:(..i sent those PCCs in today as well..

As I said before, CIC cannot be evasive or vague in its response to your MP. They might tell him as to what is exactly going on with your file. In case it is stuck in the background check stage then there is nothing much the mp could do. He can just give a slight nudge that is all

Try approaching your local MP. They might be able to say where exactly your file has been stuck and may succeed in getting a more detailed reply form ottawa

PS: They might not be able to speed up the process in case your file is in security review as the CSIS have their own mandate and timelines for this..

I contacted our MP a few days ago and asked for his help about my application processing which has been delayed for about 3 month now. His secretary told me CIC has its own regulations, and we can not intervene. She even told me your tone is harsh :). I was really trying to be politely expressed! I just told her that because of the 2 mistakes by CIC my case has been delayed for 3 month, and she considered it a harsh tone!

Wow that's a first. Maybe he is an opposition MP !. Can you try contacting Ottawa since you are well above the average processing time (13 months)?

Try another MP. Maybe the MPs of NDP party are more helpful.
Also, I think it is better to go to their office instead of calling them. Go there and ask them to call Ottawa and inquire about your application.

i don't think that is possible ;)...when i contacted my MP to enquire about the status of my application, i first called the wrong MP's office ...they verify if your address falls in their constituency limits and if not (as in my case) they will give you the telephone number of your particular MP..i had to go in to his office (by the way he was of the conservative party), sign some forms to authorize him to enquire to CIC on my behalf...but the office called me the very next day and told me that my case was approved and I would get a letter to send in my passports very soon ...they even sent me a letter afterwards, saying not to hesitate to contact them in the future as well...so they were very helpful!..

Yes also had a very good experience. When I last time went to confirm my updated letter attached to my file , i had to fill up some form, with my application number, date of birth, address and then next day they informed me they have investigated and confirmed that my documents has been attached and they will asses my file by 20th June. The MP's secretory asked me to wait for two more weeks after 20th June and I might get some news very soon. I found them very generous and kind.
Aidina I suggest you go directly in person to the MP office and try to convince them with the situation.
Good luck

Hi every one,
Has any body received an email from the "Client-update-mise-a-jour @ cic.gc.ca" with a title like "Citizenship & Immigration Canada: Information about EXXXXXXXX"? It seems the email is from:
Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa
NHQ - Centralized Processing Region
219 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa ON
K1A 1L1, Canada

I am wondering if this is a valid email address from CIC or not?

Hey guys I have a question although it might be already answered. Do you know that CIC consider the Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA) money as transferable money. My bank told me I can withdraw or transfer this money anytime I want but wondering anybody have much detail idea about TFSA.
Many thanks for your concern.

Yes, money in TFSA is accepted by CIC. That was the case for me.
