I used the old version of NOC codes when I applied. My NOC for RA/TA was 4122.
My TA duties was Conducting undergraduate laboratory, Leading tutorials, Grading lab assignments, Marking mid-term and final exams. They actually accepted my TA duties.

My RA was Conducting and Studying ...... in the field of ..... . They disagreed with my RA duties and rejected me because it didn't match the NOC duties.

I also claimed the previous work experience in my back home. I couldn't find the exact NOC match with my career. However, I used the nearest NOC to my work experience. They didn't accept my previous work experience as it didn't match the NOC code.

I don't know how the CIC officers think about the PhD students. Why we need to exactly provide the letter that describes the RA duties of a PhD students like what they mention in NOC duties. OK, We just go to university and watch soccer and play game and check Facebook. Even my grandmother knows what I am doing in the lab. It is clear. we do research, conduct literature review, prepare lab equipment, ..... The CIC officers are all douche bag. :(
from what you have written, i don't think it is worthwhile to appeal...as tyrus mentioned we can't assume that they know what Ph.D students do..they just go by the documents...and based on your letter, the RA duties are not clear...everyone in this forum would know exactly what you do as a Ph.D stdent...but that is not enough to convince them when you go for an appeal...plus they won't let you add any further documentation when you appeal...so you can't get a better letter from your supervisor or anything....so i feel the odds are against the appeal...but its your call!!

yes. It seems they are working 20 hours a day / 7 days a week.

Hey guys,

what are the possibilities for withdrawal, and more importantly, do you know under what conditions we can our money back?

I applied in Feb 2012, but I think I might get rejected based on NOC.

Any ideas on what my options could be?

You can request your application back but don't expect any refund as it's not refundable at this stage.
I do agree with Tyrux, it's worth waiting. The officer may be isn't that much tough in your case who knows ;)

I suggest you to update your application files and send them to CPP before they start processing your case. You may still have chance to correct your mistakes.

They won't accept any update of work experience. They just consider the work experience up to the date of submission of application while at the time of processing your work experience as a RA/TA will be more than what you have sent in.
On the other hand, you can't change your past responsibilities!

hey guys,

Some of you know my "story", but for those who don't: a quick recap. I applied back in May 2012 and just got a request for a 6-month bank statement. I do not have the settlement funds anymore (I managed to have them thanks to a scholarship and a paycheque back in the day). Now I have two options:
1. withdrawing my application (t avoid a second rejection)
2. applying for an extension. What I mean is that they gave me 60 days to submit the documents. I am defending my thesis early May and the job I currently have (assistant professor at a university in Alberta) will turn into a permanent one as soon as I have the paper stating that I completed my program (in June). Right now my contract is a conditional job position (conditional until I have my Phd). According to the application rules if you have an AOR (permanent job position) you no longer have to give a proof of funds. My job qualifies under that rule

I was thinking about sending them a letter explaining my situation along with a copy of my current contract. What do you guys think? I do not want to get rejected a second time so I would rather withdraw my application if there is no chance for me and apply through the PNP this summer. That would such a waste of money though.
