We are sending out our application tomorrow and I thought I would review it one more time. I forgot to sign the letter I wrote explaining our plan for moving back to Canada.   What is so sad about that is that I work for an Immigration lawyer here in the U.S. and I review applications all the time.....mine I almost goofed up on AGGHHH

Isn't it, though?!?! I swear, my IQ dropped each time I got into my immigration paperwork, and I'm normally a pretty smart cookie.

Good luck with the application process!
They (CIC) want us to feel dumb OTL

Hahah isn't that always how it is when someone is in an area of expertise? They mess up with their own stuff. Good thing you caught it now! :)

I'm pretty sure they expect you to put it... even if it's not I would just in case! It's not too much more work to check everything and helps you in the process.

I included the country specific checklist. It shows that you have reviewed all the required information. You can check off everything that applies to you and then write N/A for items that don't. I even highlighted the documents that I included. When in doubt, include it.

Yes you do. I filled it out with my information (sponsor), but I think you could use sponsor or principal applicant.

Fedexed our outland app to Mississauga today!! ;D
I see the processing time for step 1 increased from 28 days last month to currently 44 days. :(
Does anyone know if those are calendar days or business days?

My Canadian husband is mailing our application in tomorrow (5 inches thick I think with all the relationship proof shenanigans) . I live in Raleigh NC. Anyone have any idea when I can move up there? Do we have to wait for our visa or simply the approval of his spousal sponsorship? I too noticed that processing times "jumped" from 28 days to 44, lots of us immigrating to Canada, eh?? ;D
Big sigh of relief now that the application is done!!! Lots of waiting & praying now.... :D :D

you can't "move" or "live" there until you receive your PR. You CAN "visit" him anytime you want while the application is processing. technically as us citizens we can visit for up to 6 mo (whether that's per visit or per calendar year is topic of much debate). of course, the length of your visit is dependant on the border officer you meet at the border, and whether they want to let you in for 6 mo. or give you a shorter visit. It's important to show proof of ties to the US at the border, in case they ask for them. this includes a lease/mortgage/deed and/or paystubs/work contract. belongings and family are not considered strong ties. it's also helpful to have your marriage certificate, a copy of your pr application and any fees paid. IF you fly, make sure to have a return ticket. Once you are in, you will be able to apply for an extension to stay for the duration of the process - and your status will remain VISITOR. It's recommended to do this at least 30 days prior to the end of your visit. While in as a visitor, you can not work (except remotely for a US company) or go to school for a program longer than 6 mo.

Thanks lleahdoll. :) When I mailed the FBI report request, their website said it would take 22 days for them to process it. It actually only took 22 days total for it to be received, processed and sent back. Hopefully you'll get the same result or quicker. :)
