Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

^^ I checked cause naisip ko rin mas madali magwork on campus, etc. For example, Humber and Centennial explicitly state na for on campus jobs, they should be PR or citizen. Ewan ko lang din sa ibang school but I imagine many have similar policies

Guys, meron bang agency na pwedeng magpagawa ng SOP lang? Haha. Kinabahan kasi ako bigla dun sa bagong post na topic na nadeny sya tapos Social Work ang program nya sanang itetake. Napraninng ako kasi Social Work din balak kong iapply sa Fall 2016 intake.

Huwag ka na mag-agency para gumawa lang ng SOP mo. Mahal!! May I know ano yung background mo (college graduate? Masters?) and why you want to take Social work?

Guys, i have been reading some of the threads/posts in here and i am quite confused what to apply. First, I am a medical technologist here in cebu and just got my ielts score with an overall band of 7.0. Here are my individual ratings. L 8, S 7, R 6.5 , W 5.5. Is this enough for me to be eligible to study in canada.?
Btw, i viewed the school websites and one of which is NAIT in alberta. I am applying for medical technology however i missed the application deadline which was on feb 2015.

Do you have any suggestion , advice, or comment?!
My supposedly plan is this coming september and i do not know if i am too late to apply for schools in canada since i have only 4 months left for preparation?
Also, am i being hasty or should i wait for next fall?!

Hi there, welcome to the thread.
Your overall IELTS score is okay, but your writing score is low. Most universities/colleges have a " no section below 6.0" requirement, but I think meron ding colleges who will accept your score, check mo lang English proficiency requirements nila. It might also be a bit of concern when the visa officer looks at your application.

You can still make it for September but you have to start gathering your documents, applying to university / college now.

@scorpio1641: I looked into Humber and Centennial, and I think you're talking specifically about the Work Study program. From what I understand, it's geared towards students who are in financial need and thus need jobs. As international students, our financial capability has been thoroughly assessed by CIC and by nature, we shouldn't be in financial need to come here, hence, not being eligible for the Work Study program.

However, that doesn't mean you CAN'T get an on-campus job. There are other openings such as peer tutors and even teaching assistants (whom I know are well compensated lol). You just have to apply directly to the school, and not under the Work Study program.

The school I attend opens with the statement that we're an equal opportunities employer. I think you just looked into a specific program. In most cases, job opportunities are open to all, unless they're designed for applicants with a specific background.

@ ianteves93: Hi Ian! First step from this point is to look for a school that has a program that is still accepting students or has open slots. Most major universities are no long accepting students by this time, but you may be able to find a college that still is. From my experience, MedTech programs are usually not open to international students. Or the slots fill up really quick, so you might be put on the waitlist. Otherwise, I think it's better to consider entering a different program or wait until the next intake. Health sciences is one of the harder courses to enter if you're an international student, but I also think it's the most rewarding because the demand for health professionals is continuously growing.

It normally takes about 2-4 months for the school to process your application, specially since you'll be sending in original copies to your school via mail. This is excluding the time it takes to process your student visa, so realistically speaking, you may not be able to make it for September.

@ scorpio1641: Mmmm this page clearly explains that international students are allowed to work on campus... http://careers.humber.ca/international-students.php All I know is that it's just under the work study program that we're not eligible for I'm pretty sure you can work on campus, there's no reason as to why you can't hahaha

Yes po, i have reviewed schools nmn and my ielts score is enough for me to pass. Yes, i had a one month preparation lang taz weekends lang ako pumapasok sa review center.
Though i have expected that parang hindi ako mkkapasok sa september na class.
So i guess i'll try to see what i can do. Thanks anyway.

I guess so and besides ngayon lang ako nakapagawa ng passport. Ngayong May pa lang makukuha.
Peo i will start processing if not for this coming september then by next fall na lang. Hehehe
So d ako pwede magkuha ng medtech kase medtech na ako? you mean to say they will not approve that and i have too choose something related sa field ko here sa phil?!
