Well I know when the time comes we will be using westjet for my husbands arrival! Just have to make this tedious waiting period. My SA should be here anytime now then from there it's the long haul of waiting. Blah! I still find myself wondering if application going through Mexico will be faster or slower....

yup. totally going to use West Jet!!!

Well processing time for Mexico changed from 18 to 17 month, some others vo when up, I'm glad Mexico wasn't the case

So I officially received Sponsor Approval. It was really strange though cause the ECAS said Decision made and that they mailed me letter on May 14th (letter has yet to arrive. Today, however I received an email saying I was approved to sponsor my husband. Hooray. AND its official...our package is going to Mexico. Hopefully things don't take forever. I'm okay with 8-10 months, but a year seems painful... I guess we will see.

Congratulations on Sponsorship Approval! That's a huge step to be done with!!!
When I received SA, my ECAS also said Decision Made and that they had mailed me a letter, but I received only an e-mail. I think it's just that their system is outdated and they never bothered to update it to specify when an e-mail is sent as opposed to a letter.

Good luck with the Mexico process. It will be really interesting to see how the process works there! I wish you speedy processing :)

Congrats!!!
I hope the Mexico VO is good to you and I hope it goes quickly!

I am very curious to see the Mexico office in action. I hope they are faster rather than slower. I will keep ya'll posted. Especially those of you that are just behind us in dates..

soooo I just received an email from Santo Domingo, that Mexico is now responsible for all visas from DR (which we already knew!) and to contact them for more information regarding our application.

I wonder if Mexico will send anything saying they have our application?

Who knows... things seem like they have been so up in in the air. I imagine things are also potentially gonna get back logged. I'm not feeling optimistic for it to happen that quickly considering that there people from June 2014 that STILL haven't heard anything.

Oh boy!

OK wait! So does this mean yours is in Mexico now? I would give them a call! I'll be driving to Santo Domingo tomorrow to visit family, maybe I'll stop by the embassy!

yup I'm pretty sure it is in Mexico now!
When I was in Santo Domingo a couple weeks ago, I spoke to someone at the Embassy and at that point it was still there and she was not very sure of what was happening with applications. She knew as of May 1 they were going to Mexico but she wasnt sure if files submitted before that date were going to Mexico too.

Sooo it looks like everyone is being sent to Mexico! Hopefully they can pick up where SD left off and start issuing a whole lot of visas!

and randomly not that long ago, on ecas it updated for my husband that his medical results had been received, I wonder if that showed up when it arrived to Mexico? no clue.. just a theory!

so I just got an email from Mexico vo saying goes my app is there! The only good thing is it says they will make contact within the next two months! I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens! Here's what the email saidThis is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

well hopefully we all get processed at the same time and our hubby's are here before the summer is over. That would be lovely. So we were in Santo Domingo last week and we actually got to speak with a real live visa officer (granted we waited for like 2 hours at security and we met her by a streak of luck) she was so lovely! She told us they are dealing with a back log as far back as one year (complicated cases) and they are lso deaing with a lot of corruption coming out of the place where people go to do their medical! Apparently, they were stealing money and charging a higher fee! (I'm not surprised) so they are currently sorting that out too, she said they also reassigned most of their vo's to new locations and they are severely understaffed in SD, she said the embassy is all but shut down! She said Mexico will honour their (SD) processing time of all applications handed in before the switch and our applications should be dealt with quickly! That's all she said! When I asked her why Mexico, because they have lot of corruption there too, she said it was the fastest option and the approval rate is high! Oh I also asked about interviews and she said that if one is needed then they will still conduct them at the embassy in Santo Domingo or if not there than an alternate location such as a VAC (Visa Application Centre). I hope this eases everybody's mind! I didn't get the sense she was bulls hitting me! She seemed really genuine and seemed to take time to explain every question we asked and we had a lot!
