We didn't receive the passport request yet, but hopefully it will arrive anytime now. Yes, my husband will renew it now.
So once we do receive the passport request, we have to fill in the old passport information at the visa centre while sending out the new passport right?

my visa expires on the 23rd of \Februarary..I dont know how fast Ottowa to send the CoPR and my passport.

Glad to hear your news finally! Congratulations! Can you try phoning CIC (in Canada) and explain your situation to them so they can advise how you should proceed?
