Thank you very much for detailed response! Appreciate it much.

Two points:

In the new forms they asking the requester to check a box saying "proof of residency included" or something along these lines. The old forms didn't have it. I never sent any proof of residency and I never had any issues. However, this time because of this checkbox, I included the proof of residency. It never hurts to send them this, as it's just one extra page on the pdf.

Make sure you ask for the "Electronic Notes" and not the "Application Status"

The rest exactly as Güzelyol already mentioned :)

In the instructions, they clearly mention you don't need to provide any proof if your address is in Canada. I believe this checkbox is a reminder for people having a postal address out of Canada. Of course, it will never hurt to add a scan of a PR card or a Canadian passport, so it's up to you. Actually, if they really wonder, they can always find your status in your wife's file.

True, but honestly, I really didn't want to receive a note after 30 days that they couldn't send me the notes since I didn't enclose it. Just the probability of having to wait yet another 30 days made me enclose it :D
Like you said, it never hurts!

Question!
I sent the form and did everything right. I just didn't create 1 pdf for everything together! I just attached 3 pdf files to my email. Is that fine? It is now 3 weeks since I sent them and haven't received anything yet....

It should be fine! It takes up to 30 calendar days, so there's still time!

I sent a case-specific enquiry to Ankara asking when they might complete our case. As expected, they did not give me any info, replied with standard response:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We refer to your recent case status enquiry.

We regret, as indicated in our website, we only respond to case status enquiries when your case has exceeded average processing times. So far, your case is within published processing times.

Please see this notice on our website:

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/turkey-turquie/visas/enquiry-how_demande-comment.aspx?view=d

Please pay attention to this Section:

Making enquiries about…

…sponsoring your family: Family members in Canada sponsoring overseas applicants may phone the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) Call Centre from within Canada. The Call Centre can provide you with application forms for sponsoring your relatives and can make address changes for your address in Canada. You can use the automated telephone service or to speak with a Call Centre agent.

…confirming receipt of documents and bank drafts/transfers: In order to best use our resources, we will not confirm whether we have received your documents. If you would like confirmation of delivery, you can send your documents by registered mail or courier. If you would like confirmation that we have processed your bank draft or transfer, you can contact the bank that issued the draft or made the transfer.

…an application in process: If you already have an application at our office, we will answer your question only if our average processing time has been exceeded or if there is a problem. Otherwise, you should assume that your file is proceeding normally. Processing time starts when your complete application has been received in our office and ends on the day the final decision (i.e. approval/refusal) leaves our office

Best Regards,

I look at typical GCMS report (https://docs.google.com/document/d/17KrJmBgFUS4UakcSu8ecSQnZn0z9UGmxc9oJ7WOP4LM/edit?pli=1), and see that they also conduct security/criminal/background check on sponsor too. What is strange, they have a field of sponsor medical check-up pass or fail. I did not go through medical examination when applied for sponsorship. Did I have to go through this medical check-up?

They do some sort of a background check on the sponsor when they are reviewing the sponsorship application, but that's pretty much it as far as I know.

Sponsors don't need to go through medical exams. I think I know which section you're referring to. The GCMS system is used for all classes of immigration, therefore some fields won't apply to us :)

Don't worry about the message back from the VO. At least they responded. I hope your wife gets her approval soon :) Good part is, you know they have been working on your file. They are probably doing the background checks now!

As for us, as far as I can tell from our notes, all is done, and we are just waiting for the medical extensions. I hope it'll go through soon. :)

Hi alish,

Great news! Congrats!

I updated your PPR date in the "comments" section. Let me know when the visa is issued so I can turn your line to blue :)

Hi everybody
I would like to thank you all for sharing the information with others. I looked at this post time to time in order to find some news about the progress of the sponsorship applications processed in the embassy located in Ankara. I do sponsor my wife. We are both Iranians and I am a citizen of Canada too. Fortunately my wife was asked to submit the passport for the visa, so she can join me here in Toronto in near future. It was really great news. I hope all of you to meet your loved one in Canada very soon. The following is our time line:

We received ******'s application for permanent residence on July 27, 2012.

We sent you a letter on October 10, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing *******'s application on November 13, 2012.

Medical results have been received. (it was done on June 19,2012)

Passport request for visa: Feb 8, 2013

Thanks
