Two points:

In the new forms they asking the requester to check a box saying "proof of residency included" or something along these lines. The old forms didn't have it. I never sent any proof of residency and I never had any issues. However, this time because of this checkbox, I included the proof of residency. It never hurts to send them this, as it's just one extra page on the pdf.

Make sure you ask for the "Electronic Notes" and not the "Application Status"

True, but honestly, I really didn't want to receive a note after 30 days that they couldn't send me the notes since I didn't enclose it. Just the probability of having to wait yet another 30 days made me enclose it

I sent the form and did everything right. I just didn't create 1 pdf for everything together! I just attached 3 pdf files to my email. Is that fine? It is now 3 weeks since I sent them and haven't received anything yet....

It should be fine! It takes up to 30 calendar days, so there's still time!

I sent a case-specific enquiry to Ankara asking when they might complete our case. As expected, they did not give me any info, replied with standard response:

If you would like confirmation that we have processed your bank draft or transfer, you can contact the bank that issued the draft or made the transfer.

…an application in process: If you already have an application at our office, we will answer your question only if our average processing time has been exceeded or if there is a problem. I look at typical GCMS report (https://docs.google.com/document/d/17KrJmBgFUS4UakcSu8ecSQnZn0z9UGmxc9oJ7WOP4LM/edit?pli=1), and see that they also conduct security/criminal/background check on sponsor too. What is strange, they have a field of sponsor medical check-up pass or fail. I did not go through medical examination when applied for sponsorship. Did I have to go through this medical check-up?

Sponsors don't need to go through medical exams. I think I know which section you're referring to. The GCMS system is used for all classes of immigration, therefore some fields won't apply to us

Hi everybody
I would like to thank you all for sharing the information with others. I looked at this post time to time in order to find some news about the progress of the sponsorship applications processed in the embassy located in Ankara. I do sponsor my wife. We are both Iranians and I am a citizen of Canada too. Fortunately my wife was asked to submit the passport for the visa, so she can join me here in Toronto in near future. It was really great news. I hope all of you to meet your loved one in Canada very soon. The following is our time line:

We received ******'s application for permanent residence on July 27, 2012.

We sent you a letter on October 10, 2012 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing *******'s application on November 13, 2012.

Medical results have been received. (it was done on June 19,2012)

Passport request for visa: Feb 8, 2013
