You raised a very important issue. I don't think credit card could be used as an acceptable form for the first landing. According to the Forex Guidelines, you can take upto US$ 2000 as cash and the remaining amount ($3000) in TC. Most banks no longer trade in TCs after Amex left BD. But, I know for sure that StanChart does. So you can take US$ 10000.00 in cash or near cash form for you and Bhabi from StanChart. As for the child, the limit is half (US$ 1000 cash and US$ 1500 TC). That makes a total of US$ 12500. You don't have to be a client to avail the service from SCB. For the rest, I am afraid you have to carry cash without endorsement. Someone in the forum suggested that we take 1000 Euro note as that would be easy to hide. Personally I would carry Canadian Dollar as much as I can in order to avoid the exchange rate loss. I think you can devise your own strategy like keeping the unendorsed cash in small bundles in different parts of your carry-in luggages, wallet, purse and so on. Hope that helps!

PS.If you had an RFCD account, you could take the whole amount without any problem.

Hi,

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on getting the medical request. Nothing special for the medical test. It is a easy process.

You are rightly mentioned about the forms and other papers. I believe I took a photocopy of passport – but can't recall whether it was required anyway or not.

After the medical, they will send it to the Panel Physicians directly (thru FedEx/DHL) – no action item from your end. What you can do – one or two days after your medical, call Mr. Wahab's office to get the tracking number of the pack into which they will send your report and you can track the delivery.

Also I believe, the Visa Office might asked for (i) RPRF, (ii) some other forms, (iii) updated photograph, (iv) Police Clearance Certificate, and the like into other letter along with Medical Request. If so, you should start working on those areas as well right now. The deadline should be 60 days. So DO NOT waste time and just jump into it.

After the medical and sending all other documents, the waiting will be kicked-off for having the PPR. One-two months might take to get the PPR.

And be sure not to hesitate to ask any questions you have in this forum. People are here to help!

You should send all documents through Fedex/DHL to VO. Medical will be sent by DMP by themself. You need to wait 10 days after VO received all docs and medical report and then submit your PP to VFS. This is the better way I know. As by this 10 days they will be able to verify all ur docs.

within this time I will prepare all the forms, the pay order from SCB. If everything goes well by God's grace We'll submit all our papers through VFS on 25th of ths month. Can u tell me when will they send my passport back? I was planning to go to India at the end of Dec. do you think I'll get back my passport by then?

You may need more then one moth to get back pass with VISA so far i found in this forum, and if you go in january'13 in india with Canadian visa, then you need to consider you dollar amount you endorse need to be less from your total limit USD 5k/PP/in a Calander yr. Think of this carefully

Yes I got request for Medical, Police clearance and PR fee payment. Thy instructed me to send my passport with all ths documents to singapore within 60days
