Hi all,

I have received my PPR email but I am getting married in December. I am not adding my husband to my application because I don't want to restart the process. Would be is applying for it independently. Will this affect my landing if it's planned after my marriage.

Should I land in Canada before getting married and then change my status?
If you don't want to restart the process, land before getting married because if you get married before landing that would be misrepresentation

You mean land after getting married?

Okay. What if I land after getting married but declare that though I am married my husband is not accompanying me and would be applying independently for his visa?

Even if your spouse is not accompanying you, there are other checks necessary by IRCC that must be done. If you don't declare once you get married and you land, you might be returned at point of entry. Also, when he applies independently and states that he is married and they link him to you; the Canadian government will know that you didn't declare him at the exact time you got married. Don't forget that a web form must always be raised once there is a change in situation which includes marriage .

Ah I understand you better. So I can first land and then get married and then go back. That sounds good?

But before going back declare that I was married during the period of coming back and I am not coming back with any dependent?

Once you land and become a PR, you do not need to declare that you got married. You will need to sponsor your spouse.
Oh great. So now if my spouse is applying for this individual visa would my not declaring pose any problems?

Yes you have to land before getting married...

Quick question, I have a bit of a situation.

My AOR is 16th Feb 2019. I got married on 12th June. Informed CIC on 30th June regarding my marital status change via CSE (Also sent wife's passport, birth certificate non-translated, IELTS, WES - basically what I had of her at the moment). On 17th July, I got my PPR and between those 18 days period, case officer had not got back to me with any document requirements for Wife. So on 18th July also I sent the second reminder that I'm married and on 20th I called CIC and informed the agent as well, she said wait for the case officer to get back to me.

What would happened to my PPR in this case? Will my case be reassessed all over again? Will it take a long time? I have all the documents of my spouse ready by the time I received my PPR (From translations, to work letters to updated proof of funds) but have no way of sending until the case officer asks me to. I really don't want to take the sponsorship route as well since we are newly married.

Please help me out with your advises

I do not get what you are asking. You can only amend open application. Not a closed one.
Okay let me elaborate my query. So now I would be landing before I get married and as you mentioned I don't need to declare my marriage as per this plan. Now, simultaneously, my husband is preparing for his individual PR and when it's time to file his application we would be married. During that application if he declares that his spouse is a Canadian PR holder the embassy would definitely look into my application. So would this be queried that I had not declared it before second landing and will it lead to complications in his application?

I hope this helps!

By landing, everyone refers to becoming a PR. You only land once. As long as you get married AFTER landing, you do not need to declare the marriage.
