Dear everyone,

I became a permanent resident last May 2013. I am currently outside Canada but I am planning to settle there by the end of this summer. In this case, is my sister eligible for 5 points from adaptability if she applied before my final settlement in Canada?

I would appreciate any reply to my post.

No - your sister won't get adaptability points for you. You must be living in Canada at the time she applies and she must include proof with her application that shows you are living in Canada.

Thank you Scylla for this quick response.
So let's say that she will apply after I settle in Canada, then if I bought a house, would this be enough as residency proof?

No - a house isn't enough. You need to prove that you are actually living in Canada. You can easily buy a house in Canada but live somewhere else.

You need to provide proof like: proof of employment in Canada, proof of attending school in Canada, credit card bills that show regular purchases in Canada, tax returns showing the person is a Canadian resident, etc.
