"We sent you correspondence on December 28, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required"

It can be any request like paperwork request or could be fingerprint request too.

Do they send details in email or postal mail? I haven't received any email so far.

It's usually by mail. It can take 7-10 days for mail to reach you. Keep checking your email and physical mailbox for any mails.

Hi Tim50, my ecas added 4th line too:
"We sent you correspondence on Jan 19 2017 If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required"

Can you please update? Did you get anything by regular mail? What was it?
I'm a little concerned as I thought CIC would contact me by e-mail only...

Most likely/hopefully it is a fingerprint request and the letter will have all the instructions on how to proceed with those.

YEs, I did get letter in mail in 5 days after ecas status updated.
This was fingerprint request. I think CIC sends postal mail if they need any details. This letter has all the details what and where to do.
hope this helps.
Complete FP once you get letter asap.

fingerprints are requested when there is same name/date of birth match with the person who has a police record.

If CIC requests any additional documents including fingerprints, the application becomes non-routine thus the processing may be delayed.

so you want to say when finger print request it means : there is same name/date of birth match with the person who has a police record.

I am in Canada as working visa I applied PR as a inside Canada applicant. while my PR application was processing CIC did not requested my finger print. So does it mean when I will apply citizenship they will not ask my finger print.

I am not sure about the exact criteria about why cic requests fingerprints however the info that i told you before is what I know little bit about. If you were not asked for fingerprints before does not mean that you won't be asked for fingerprints during citizenship application.
If you have no criminal record, it should not affect you anyway and you should not worry at all, however additional document request or fingerprint request can delay the application little bit.
