I am not tallking about Pr. please see his or her time line. Do you believe a refugee case can be heard and decided within 6 months? He or she said they got protected status in 6 months. Most applicants from 2022 have not even had their interview yet because of the backlog. To be honest, I have started to doubt the 2024 cases, but this update makes me feel foolish for believing such a myth.
I see. I can’t say anything about the hearing. My case was accepted in 9 months and 1 week.

Are you kidding me? Sorry to say this, but this timeline is unbelievable. It is impossible for the IRB to conduct a comprehensive review, schedule an interview, and make a decision within 6 months. Most people wait 3 years just to have their case heard. Thanks for sharing your timeline. Now we know the 2024 timelines are fake.
Do you work with IRB…I have realized IRCC and IRB do not process cases by fist come first serve beside my province is Saskatchewan

I did my refugee 2024 January,
Brown paper and documents taken April 2024 . ( Got Brown paper and work permit)
Less complex case September 2024 (no minister intervention )
December 2025 provide documents for file review. ( GOT EMAIL TO SEND EVIDENCE)
January 2026 positive decision
Work permit was to expire April 2026 .
I went to costi ( Sheridan mall) got help to renew it .February 4th 2026 .
By February month end I got approved for two more years February 2028.
Applied for PR march 2026 ( was waiting on my kids documents back home took me a while to get them ) that's why I waited so long to apply for PR .

Nothing since I applied in march for PR just waiting patiently ..

If I knew how to send documents with my name off I would send it ..

But I am a 2024 January refugee claimant - Now a Conventional Refugee..

I personally know persons i met at FCJ Refugee Centre...that dont get through way back from October 2023 ...

your timeline of 2 years makes sense, especially since your case is less complex, which means it would be processed faster than a regular one.

Ok understand. Do you think it will be the same for PR ?
New applicants may get it in 16 months. However, it depends on their country of origin and background, both of which may cause delays.Even if someone has no issues personally, a country of origin considered high risk can still lead to delays.

Anyway, congratulations. Please don’t play with other people’s feelings. Please be humane.
I’m not playing anybody’s feelings…posted to encourage others…I think some people do not know how the asylum system work in Canada…They have 3 zones, one for Ontario area, one for Quebec and other provinces and the third zone for Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia…Because those in third zone get few asylum cases, they have fast processing times for hearing…I know 5 people from Saskatchewan and Alberta who got their hearing in less than 8 months…the fact is those who seek asylum in Quebec and Ontario have a long waiting times compared to those who seek asylum in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia

A friend of mine who applied in early 2024 got only an eligibility letter, and his lawyer told him he will get his final decision by the end of 2026 or in 2027. He is a signal applicant, no complex case, though.
