Offering "Express Entry" to Qualified Economic Immigrants - Actively Recruiting Talented Newcomers For the Benefit of Canada's Economy
OTTAWA, April 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander today announced that Canada's active recruitment model for economic immigration will officially be called "Express Entry." Set to launch in January 2015, "Express Entry" is a major step forward in the transformation of Canada's immigration system into one that is fast, flexible and focused on meeting Canada's economic and labour needs.

"Express Entry" will allow for greater flexibility and better responsiveness to deal with regional labour shortages, and help fill open jobs for which there are no available Canadian workers. "Express Entry" candidates who receive a valid job offer or nomination under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will be quickly invited to apply for permanent residency - a key distinction between "Express Entry" and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, which is only used to fill temporary labour and skill shortages.

Formerly referred to as "Expression of Interest", "Express Entry" will be open to skilled immigrants and allow the government to select the best candidates who are most likely to succeed in Canada, rather than those who happen to be first in line. It will also prevent backlogs and allow Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to better coordinate application volume with the annual immigration levels plan.

Qualified applicants can expect faster processing times of six months or less when invited to come to Canada in four key economic streams: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class, and a portion of the PNP.

With "Express Entry," employers will have a key role in selecting economic immigrants and providing advice to the Government of Canada. To this end, Alexander also announced that over the course of spring 2014, CIC will work with provincial and territorial governments to hold a series of cross-Canada information sessions to provide employers with more information about this exciting new system

Hey Prachi,

Any specific reason to share this info on NS Forum?

Guys

"Will there be an FSWP in 2014"?

This has been a million dollar question for quite a while, the above post about proposed "EXPRESS ENTRY" gives some insight into that.
Apparently, it seems there won't be any FSWP in 2014. :'(

Yes there is no FSW for this year 2014. I got the news from local Canadian Attorney.

New program "EXPRESS ENTRY" will be launched in 2015 ( copy of Australian Immigration ). Nothing is new just filling labour market shortage instead of allowing all NOC codes.

Having to said, they will reduce temporary foreign worker (Closed work permit) + FSW category. Hence, they will more work on only skilled worker who are demanding jobs and opportunity in 2015.

I am curious about below statement:

This means the person who applies first might not get PR first.. For that matter might not even get PR. Only applicants who better fit the labour demand in canada will get PR

Understand Canadian Immigration process

Scenario 1:

Step1) Any company or organization wants labour :) or ( skilled worker )

Step2) Generally, company will file the LMO application & try to show that they need this kind of person b'cas they are not getting from local market or throughout in Canada for that skills.
Example Civil Engineer or Software Developer

Step3) They filled the LMO to immi. If it is approved then organization can hire on closed work permit for limited duration.

Scenario 2:

Step 1) Any company or organization wants labour :) or ( skilled worker ). But, this time not a single company but requirements in huge. Many companies wants resource for same category. For Example, Food inspector.

Step 2) Major companies request to gov/federal/PNP for that requirements. Here, gov will create new NOC code such as XXXX. This XXXX code will launch in Federal or PNP program. So people will get nomination and direct apply PR outside Canada.

Scenario 3:

Step 1) Sometimes, this XXXX NOC code comes in Canadian Education or college will start this kind of new course so, they will attract more study permits.

Step 2) Once Students are in Canada and apply under XXXX noc category. They will get PR easily.

But problem is that organization don't want to wait for Candidate longer period as they have also requirement to fulfill their project, deadline, more cost involved.

So, new process comes in picture that is called "EXPRESS ENTRY" (This is already available in Australia).

My Application was received, but no one updated anything in DTDC/DHL site. It said it is delivered but no updates on who received it :(

There is a option of getting POD in PDF through e-mail. Fill up that option in the website - you will get POD where you will know who received your package.

I'm preparing my file now in order to send it next Monday

Do I have to fill all the forms of Canada and attach them to the application or this is in the second phase

and what is the meaning to don't use multiple staple (Does this mean to leave the papers without stapling or to use only one staple) ???

And that is good, so it's not first come first serve

PR is not 'First Come First Serve' basis in any Canadian Immigration category.

AOR/Confirmation is the 'first come first serve basis' until category is open.

found in the main form of CIC
UCI stands for “unique client identifier.” It is also known as a client identification number (client ID). It appears on official documents you get from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). It has four numbers, a hyphen and four more numbers. (Example: 0000-0000).

If you are applying to CIC for the first time, you will not yet have a UCI. If so, and you are filling out a form that asks for one, write “Not Applicable” or “N/A” in the space provided.

If you are applying online and the form does not allow you to input “N/A,” leave the space blank.
