Case ineligible due to bill C-12

An H&C does not prevent removal. In the past removals were often put on hold when an active H&C application had been made but that is no longer the case. Once you apply for H&C it will still be processed while outside Canada. Processing is decades so unless a decision is imminent H&C is no...

Iranian on visitor visa, stuck in Canada because of war. Options?

Only good option on your list is visitor record. Do they have a US visa? They can’t flagpole. As long as they apply for a visitor record before their current stay expires they have implied status. Make sure to also extend their travel medical insurance or if you haven’t purchased any you should.

Visitor record never arrived. Re entry options

If they stayed past their authorized stay they likely need to do another medical. How long did they stay their last visit?

Employment Letter format for visit visa

Any letter of employment should be consistent and expect IRCC to reference employment letter from TRV for PR. Unless you know French or work in a few select professions (mainly healthcare) it will be very difficult to secure PR from abroad without Canadian work experience. For your TRV it is...

2024 asylum claimants, Share timeline here

Sadly many will wait 3-4 years just for a hearing these days. The backlog is huge and IRB only has the capacity to process a certain amount of applications per year.

H&C Humanitarian Ground with/or Without Failed refugee claim

Doubt my twitter posts have any impact on IRCC. I had been posting that the wait times posted were incorrect and were much longer for over a year on this forum before IRCC started posting somewhat more accurate processing times. I just did simple math based on the tables IRCC puts out showing...

PGWP + Online U.S. Degree + Express Entry Question

Speak to a lawyer and get a response from IRCC in writing. Think I saw a recent case or ATIP where the person couldn’t count their Canadian work experience during studies because they were studying full-time even if their studies where not through a Canadian school.

Applying Together: Student Visa and Spouse Work Permit Canada.

Agree which is why I pointed out that there plan to get study permit in the hopes of staying longterm is not realistic.

What does your wife do for work? Her language scores?

    PGP 2023 applicant - 2025 income question

Fairly common to ask if only just met LICO over other years, change in family composition, job change, etc. LICO is already very low given cost of living and IRCC wants to ensure families who receive PR through PGP won’t access social & charitable services.

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2025 Timelines

Agree that some form of expedited review will likely remain but given our approval rates are much higher than the rest of the world and IRB knows there are issues with fraud there will be public pressure to prioritize better vetting versus maintaining current processing speed.

Applied PRTD online from Pakistan in Jan 2026

Hire a lawyer. Having a Canadian child does not guarantee status for parents. At this point your child is almost 18 so would be considered an adult. When did you get PR? How much time have you spent in Canada in the past 5 years? Since getting PR? Has your child spent their whole life living in...

You can be asked to prove that you still meet LlCO at any point.

PR living in US (H1B) – Issues with US Plates and Residency Scrutiny at Border

You have to pick a primary residence location. This is important for many reasons not just immigration.

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2025 Timelines

How did you get to Canada without any travel documents? Even if you arrived through a 3rd country you would have needed travel documents to get on a plane. What about other identification? Not being able to determine someone’s identity can cause delays in processing.

    Refugee/Asylum Claimants 2025 Timelines

That is an incredibly rare processing time these days. There is also much more pushback about file reviews with no hearings now that it has become public knowledge through committees.

Not included Masters in Study Permit

What may have been possible in 2024 is no longer overlooked. If you weren’t honest about your eduction history yes it could be a big issue. For example you may not have received a study permit if IRCC was aware you had a masters degree. Consult a lawyer.

    Studying on work permit

The exception when it comes to not needing a study permit for less than a 6 month program are for initial entry only. IRCC is being very strict about things like this. I would consult a lawyer and get the answer from IRCC in writing.

How long is your visit? If months not a week or two I would update your address.
