Landing interview is scheduled for January 11th in Calgary
Now I dont care about the OWP and hope they take till after so i can get some refund

Just noticed on my application says “We are processing your background check” is this actual movement or just something I’ve not seen before??

Review of eligibility still says “We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.”

I’ve called again just now, they still didn’t open my OWP application (there is no application number yet) The agent suggested me to submit a new one instead...

Have you not linked your OWP like others after making an account. Whenever we use agents as representatives they suggest otherwise as then they stop receiving emails. But I will advise you to be patient. When I applied for the application on June 20th, my old passport and visitor visa was expiring on the 4th of Jan 2020. And as per my agent, they only issue work permit till the validity of the passport. So I was expecting a course of action in which I will get a work permit till Jan 2020. After which I will apply for an extension of work permit on the new passport. Then apply for a visitor visa if required or not. I still took a chance and got my new passport issued from Toronto in August itself and my agent sent the new passport update in mid-September although he still expected the initial work permit will be till the validity of old passport( Jan 2020). But I guess the people sitting in the Edmonton office are not dumb, as they know I need to apply for work permit extension one month before the expiry of my old work permit. So I kept waiting and finally got an email on Dec 12th that I have a work permit till 10th Dec 2021. And that's without any calls made to them or any query sent. I used to check ECAS status and had received a new line on permanent residence side "Medical results received" around less than a month before this So I guess you better wait and not hurry up sending a new OWP request like that can confuse. It will come through.

Hey, thanks so much for your detailed reply. I will not submit a new application for sure cause it won’t make any sense (it already took half a year, and then a new owp is going to take 4-5 months, average PR timeline is a year...) but I may just call again to confirm our OWP application is somewhere in there office cause I started to doubt everything now

So that just means they have started processing your background check (it signifies a milestone). Now when you login ECAS, it will indicate the date that has happened, “we started processing your application on [month day, year]”

I don’t know if this is the background check for the Sponsor or Principal Applicant though.

For the review of eligibility part, I’m not sure if there is an actual earlier status or whether this is an updated one. Mine says the same so far.

Hello! We received DM on sponsorship last week and DM today for pr application .Now we are waiting for an interview date from Etobicoke office. I wish everyone the same news before Christmas !
