Today i called IRCC office and asked about the office my application got assigned to. I was assigned to the Hamilton office and it has been 20 days since i received the AOR and my status has not changed to in process yet. I was told that Hamilton is one of the fast processing centers but it doesn't seem the case. I was also told that my application is still in Sydney!
Sounds like we are at a similar stage. I called about my address but also asked which office my application is assigned to.
I was told that my application is down for BC but has not yet been assigned to either the Vancouver office or the Surrey office.
My application is still in Sydney. However, they did say that my background check has been started.

good luck to both of us! in my case the officer didn't mention that background check started. but he did seem a bit surprised that my application is still in Sydney and then mentioned it might take months till it gets assigned to an officer. The key message he focused on is that it should take a year from the time they received the application - as in not to worry about the time it takes to assign officer...etc, it will be done within a year time if everything is ok.

My application was returned - for the second time. This time around it was the officer's fault. He did not understand my physical presence calculator and thinks its inaccurate (I kept records). I live in a border city (Windsor) and go to the US a lot - sometimes more than once a day. Some dates were opverlapping which was the dates with more than one trip. I was trying to declare all my exits from Canada and declared all of them in full faith but got punished for doing so. In cases like this why cant CIC officer call the applicant to verify something that is not clear to them? This decision was made at Sydney. I guess to them making more than one trip to US is strange. Windsor local office would have understood the situation better since most people living in Windsor goes to the US all the time. Its just 10 minutes to go Detroit.

A simple phone call would have clarified things. Why do they even ask for phone numbers? Now I have to wait for months again. Frustrating but life goes on. Good luck to everyone

PS - Please can someone explain step-by step instruction to apply for GCMS notes. I want to better understand their decision before reapplying

So sorry to hear that! It must be really frustrating !! Maybe you should include a copy of your record entries to the US as well as an explanation letter detailing all of your trips - lots of extra work but it might be worth the effort? Good luck for your new application!

This is really frustrating! Sorry to hear this.
If I were you, I would order CBSA entry report (under Privacy Act) for free that will have record of all your entry and include this with your resubmission

To order GCMS please visit the link below

Still no emails or mail from Citizenship Canada, is that normal not to receive anything by mail/email even though now in process.
