We, the group of AOR August 2015 (oldies) are very happy for the new pool of immigrants! In 2015 and 2016 the scores never went below 450 and there were hundreds (if not thousands) of broken hearts. I'm sincerely happy for many of those who were stuck and now got an invitation. I feel, and i hope, it'll keep going down till it reaches 400 this year. And who knows, it may even go below 400! ;D

It's truly amazing that things like this are happening and I'm happy for all of those people involved. My only concern is that the Canadian job market is about to become swamped with new people. It's debatable whether or not Canada has the foundations to handle it and what the long term implications might be. Some industries in Canada are already over-flowing with talent and it can be extremely difficult to source long-term work in those areas because supply outstrips demand.

I too am very happy for them, but i do share your concern. Canada's economy isn't like that of the States where jobs are created by the hundreds of thousands each month. There's some likelihood that a portion of new immigrants (possibly 20-30%) will struggle for a year or two before they find a steady source of income. If the conservatives win on the next election cycle, it's almost guaranteed that they'll considerably cut down on the yearly quota, if not pause immigration all together!

In all cases, I wish all new Canadians best of luck and I also hope that prospective applicants who've been in the pool for a long time get some good news soon when the scores go down a bit more.

At the end of the day, it is a phase. Countries will take in as many people as they want and once they fill their quota, they will close doors.

yearly immigration at these levels is equal to 1% of the population and yet the annual population growth is 0.8% indicating a net population decline of 0.2% if immigration is closed.
how do you think a country can grow with this kind of demography?

Very good point. In which case, it is more of sustaining current levels than looking to grow.

UK, Singapore and USA are closing doors to immigrants. Canada, Australia and New Zealand are the welcoming ones right now.

[size=10pt]Hey there

Just reading on the left side of your comments - I can see your profile indicates that your IELTS results and Medicals were requested. Mind explaining how far you are? and why do they request documents? shouldn't you supply in advance?

Sorry I'm still new to this

Thanks tons

Looks like he/she submitted all those docs upfront, that's why it says upfront next to them.

Canada wants immigrants the population is only 35-36 million. It has the lowest people per density rate. A report came last year said that immigration targets should be 450K by 2021. Because labour fource is getting aged and the birth rate in Canada is only 1.6 child per family.

Canada is no where near USA or UK because they are already dealing with huge populations and birth rate in these countries are higher. The problem is that most 80-90% of the people want white collar jobs as soon as they land in Canada thats why the market is narrow for new comers.

And mind you Express entry is made in mind to differentiate between good better and best. In the past anyone who had 67/100 points manage to get immigration but now skills age education language all things matter equaly. Whom so ever be the next ruling party immigration in canada can not be shut down for next 2 decades. The rules and way of taking new comers might change according to the needs as we have seen EE came in place and improvements in this system favouring some more than the others but completely shutting down immigration is a distant dream.
