Can I leave and come back after living in Canada as PR for about 1.5 years?

If you would only be 6 months away from meeting RO then why not stick around for those 6 months if you can and buy yourself a backup option in case things don't work out in the US? Nobody has their card seized and status revoked at the border. If found to be in breach at a POE, a report is...

PRTD from India for Card Expired in 2021 August.

My understanding is there is no fixed period for PRTD's. What they issue to you will depend on circumstances and the discretion of the processing officer. When I applied for mine last year, I requested and was quickly issued with a 1 year multiple entry document but then I had no potential RO...

    Preparing for soft landing

If you're fully vaccinated and the 2nd dose was administered more than 2 weeks ago then there is no quarantine anymore. You could literally land, complete the immigration process and leave Canada on the same day if you'd like.

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

Honestly, the last time I entered the US via the bridge at Niagara Falls, it probably took them 20 minutes to process me along with my partner at the time. We were both from visa exempt countries but neither of us were Canadian and therefore had to be photographed and fingerprinted plus there...

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

I actually agree with you on most points. Canada has an immigration system that welcomes new people daily but an employment system that often can seem to go out of its way to do the opposite. Like you, I'm a Canadian PR with a powerful passport but unlike you I'm not American. My own landing...

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

There's a distinct difference between those two countries. The IRCC is a government body built to facilitate and manage legal migration to Canada. That is their core objective. The core objective of the USCIS is to prevent non-US citizens from moving to the United States by any and all means...

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

Not entirely accurate. Canada has two pathways to skilled immigration. The first is for skilled professionals (i.e. white collar) and the second is for skilled tradespeople (i.e. blue collar). The end result is the same but I think it's just to make sure that tradespeople are properly trained...

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

The demographic issues could be eased by encouraging couples to have children. For a start the provinces could introduce better maternity, paternity and vacation leave regulations and lower the cost of living and barriers to home ownership. That's what keeps most young Canadian couples from...

Have Canadian PR , never lived in Canada

They do but the difference is neither of those countries will accept you as an immigrant doctor unless there is a simple registration route notably because self-sponsored immigration programs don't exist there. The same is true to some extent for Australia and New Zealand. A British trained...

Application for a SIN in person - appointment required?

I've heard nothing but horror stories regarding the online application process. Cases of people waiting for weeks only for their application to be refused for entirely arbitrary reasons. I don't think I trust any Canadian government employee enough to do a proper job of it at this point really.

I have an old temporary one from when I was on a work permit.

Express Entry, Leave after getting PR card COVID

I don't see why not because once you are a PR, you are free to leave the country and return as you see fit anyway as long as you have the required documentation and don't breach RO. You can land via road at a land crossing if you want to. A lot of people do it that way. You don't need to wait...

Express Entry, Leave after getting PR card COVID

It won't be since they have removed the non-essential travel guidance for Canadians and PR's at this point. In preparation for the US fully re-opening to vaxxed travellers in just over a week, Canadians are no longer advised against leaving the country for non-essential reasons. Of course to...

    Pr Card Renewal Etobicoke Office

No, you would need one to fly to Canada. The PRTD is really for airlines and bus companies rather than the IRCC. The IRCC already know your status when you arrive at the border. That's why crossing in a private vehicle negates the need for a PRTD entirely.

    Pr Card Renewal Etobicoke Office

If it helps, my first card was sent there last December for collection and they only just notified me of an appointment 2 days ago. Essentially, by the time that appointment arrives, they would have been holding my card for almost a year.

Thanks, I'll try to book an appointment then because I was hoping to do it during a lunch break. Where was this and when if you don't mind me asking?

Application for a SIN in person - appointment required?

Does anyone know if an appointment is required to apply for a SIN in person at Service Canada? I needed to book an appointment when I applied for OHIP at Service Ontario but the canada.ca website is a little unclear. It does have an appointment request form but I'm not sure if that's just for...

    EMERGENCY UK PASSPORT?!

Why would you need an emergency one to travel before Christmas? The UKPO are a lot faster at processing passport applications than their Canadian counterparts. You could just apply for a new passport online now.
