Yes but the thing is I am in the same timeline with someone who received AIP in 2025. We all received Medical Request at the same time because we applied at the same time around Summer 2023. I received AIP a bit late because my criminality passed in stage 1 not wait for stage 2. I am waiting for the final decision right now. We all outside Quebec.

That is not how processing works. When you originally applied for H&C is not what is important it is when you received AIP. You need to be comparing your processing to other applicants who received AIP in July 2026. When did you receive your medical request? Is this your first medical request for your H&C application? Did you have status before AIP? A medical request does not guarantee that you are nearing the end of processing. You can be asked to complete another one if the 1st one expires.

I was thinking the same thing but it doesn’t say anywhere as you said, only I have heard it from you. Either way we will wait and see.

You got AIP in 2025 so getting a medical request after a year is fairly normal these days. It may still take a while to get PR even though you got a medical request. Some may end up needing to do a second medical depending on how long processing takes.

Hello
I received my AIP in May 2024 and my work permit will expire in December.
I already applied to renew it this October.13,
How long will it take to get approved?

Under IRCC’s temporary public policy (extended until October 5, 2029), you are exempt from completing a new Immigration Medical Exam (IME) if you satisfy all of the following requirements:

Do You Qualify for the Exemption?

To reuse your expired or old medical results, your situation must match these official criteria:
1. Physical Presence: You must be actively and physically living inside Canada. (IRCC explicitly clarified that if you have moved outside Canada, you can no longer use this policy, even if your last exam was done here).
2. The 5-Year Window: You must have completed your previous IME within the last 5 years from the date you submit your new application.
3. Low Health Risk: Your previous medical exam results must have been assessed as low risk or no risk to Canadian public health or safety.

Yes, you can likely reuse your work permit medical exam for your permanent residence (PR) application, provided you meet specific conditions under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) rules.

The final decision rests with the IRCC officer reviewing your case. If an officer feels they need updated bloodwork, a new chest X-ray, or a closer look at a minor health condition to rule out long-term "excessive demand" on the healthcare system, they have the authority to request a new medical exam.
